Thought this album deserved to have a thread - debut album from Irish garage rock / post-punk band SPRINTS who some may remember from the Utopia BJSC entry 'Literary Mind', the album also debuted at #20 in the UK the other week which was a nice surprise as I wasn't really aware they had that kind of fanbase x

The album gets off to a really strong start for me with the first 4 songs all being absolute stormers, my favourites being 'Shaking Their Hands' and 'Cathedral' will say my one criticism of the album as a whole is that a lot of the choruses are quite repetitive and formulaic which does start to become apparent by the end of a full listenthrough but most of the songs are individually really good.

These were released as singles - 'Heavy' is another one of that brilliant opening run of 4 songs and I really like 'Shadow Of A Doubt' too, that one is at least a little structurally different with a big build in its second half. 'Adore Adore Adore' was actually one of the weaker songs on the album for me so would not have chosen that one myself x

I considered making a thread for this album the other week but didn't get around to it, so I'm glad someone has now.

'Cathedral' is hands down the best thing on here for me, absolute stormer indeed. :cheeseblock:

This is a fantastic debut album! If I had to chose a top 3 of the albums on this project, it would probably be 'Ticking', 'Heavy' & 'Cathedral' right now  I don't think there is a track on this album that I don't like, an early AOTY contender perhaps....

I'm looking forward to seeing what this band can do in the future. After all, It's great to see a new great post-punk act coming on the scene.

Shadow of a Doubt is the best of the 4, with Heavy following behind x
