November 9, 2024Nov 9 It always astounds me how when it comes to that award show she’s always hailed as some sort of prodigy and like she’s just owed everything based off who she is   Obviously she’s not going empty handed with as many noms as she has though and I will say as someone who’s never gotten her hype in terms of her material itself (I can’t fault her voice or performance skills) i actually kinda got this album.
November 9, 2024Nov 9 Cowboy Carter is now my fave of hers - Renaissance a close second. But CC has just grown on me more and more over the year and it’s a really strong set of songs imo

This  Her albums are always really boring too!! Her videos aren't all that either.
November 10, 2024Nov 10 It always astounds me how when it comes to that award show she’s always hailed as some sort of prodigy and like she’s just owed everything based off who she is   As cringe as Jojo Siwa is, she made me howl with this: jyGYc8iQ0vY "I just have to thank Beyonce to keep the dance community safe"
November 10, 2024Nov 10 The reason this is nominated and the reason Bey always gets nominated is because every album is truly intended as an album and a body of work. I’m not even the biggest stan of hers, but this and Renaissance in particular I feel like every song and how it fits in relation to the others, the whole aesthetic, the whole vibe, is all carefully curated to make it a full experience that feels like an event, and that’s not often the case with albums nowadays, often they feel like a bunch of songs rather than a project as such and in that sense she’s like a classic album artist still.
November 11, 2024Nov 11 Oh my I laughed so much I almost spilled my coffee Billie's album, number of songwriters: 2, Taylor's album, number of songwriters: 3 Beyonce, number of songwriters, 57 :D
November 11, 2024Nov 11 ...and? That post comes across really quite rude tbh when Liam has made a perfectly sensible comment before you. That doesn't mean that it isn't still a coherent project and it doesn't mean that Beyonce hasn't had a lot of control over what she wanted the album to be. Plus, and I am assuming here, those 57 songwriters will include the writers of songs that have been sampled or covered, which Beyonce will naturally have a lot more than acts like Taylor or Billie. Part of the whole point of this project and the one before it is to acknowledge the history of black music within the genres, specifically utilising samples along the way of songs that deserve to be recognised. It doesn't matter if an album was created by one person or hundreds, that's not the criteria to look at when someone is talking about whether an album feels like a unified experience or vision. And just because there are lots of people involved in a project doesn't mean that it isn't ultimately under one or two people's creative vision.
November 11, 2024Nov 11 Album Of The Year isn’t just about songwriting either, as I said it’s the entire package. Some of the songs have multiple interpolations and every single writer on those are credited so that it is a celebration of the history of country music, not something that feels like it’s just leeching off the history. Half of these people are dead so it’s not like Beyoncé has commanded an army of 50 people to write her album, added one word and taken all the credit, she’s weaved each legacy into something that celebrates milestones and turning points within the history of country. If anything I think it’s more impressive to unify all those inspirations and the styles of each artist interpolated and turn it into one project that celebrates country from its very roots up to now whilst exploring the genre’s future and pushing it to its limits, than it is to just write an album yourself. Plus TTPD to my ears is 2 hours of bloated utter tedium, I don’t care if 3 or 300 people wrote it. How is it the case that less people writing a boring straightforward pop album is seen as more deserving than a curated collection that celebrates a genre like Cowboy Carter, or even Brat? Midwest Princess or Brat would be my choice for AOTY with CC third (Hit Me Hard and Soft is also excellent), but it’s really really tiring seeing people parroting the number of writers like it’s some kind of gotcha. Some people really don’t appreciate an album or the art people bring and want to turn it into silly stupid stan wars because they’re in a cult for a certain woman
February 3Feb 3 Conflicted feeling on the win. Of Beyoncé albums it genuinely is my favourite from her which doesn’t seem to be a popular opinion but with what she was up against it wasn’t my pick and was nowhere near the strongest albums of last year. Happy for her in a sense but hopefully now people will stop making out how underrated / disrespected she is at the Grammys where she’s the most awarded act ever. She’s won the top award and become the first black female to do so since Lauryn Hill. She’s a Grammys darling!
