May 22, 20241 yr SURPRISE! L’AMOUR DE MA VIE (OVER NOW EXTENDED) is out now everywhere. 3WSIpxukIO8 Edited May 22, 20241 yr by Razor
May 22, 20241 yr She really is getting better with every album and taking so much more risks and I'm really here for it as she stands out so much in this pop landscape. This is a wonderful listen with some absolutely incredible production. So many late track switch ups which are all epic, L'AMOUR DE MA VIE is obviously a big standout in this regard, but I think my favourite that hasn't been shouted out a lot is BLUE, the transition from hazy club vibes to epic strings was brilliant, in fact the last three tracks are all great with the menacing vibes of DINER and the journey of BITTERSUITE. Definitely appreciating some clear earliy 2000s dance vibes in the style of Daft Punk as well as a fair amount of trance. I agree that it's a perfect length and the seguing songs make it feel like an intentional body of work.
May 25, 20241 yr Omg at that Pitchfork review calling 'L'Amour De Ma Vie' the "nadir of the album" Are they on drugs?
May 25, 20241 yr Hated that Pitchfork review, hate it when an artist releases her best and most cohesive work, as opposed to the last album which was great but lack cohesiveness and felt almost like Now 68 as every track was in a different direction but instead of critics calling it cohesive they call it repetitive :/ morons :/
May 28, 20241 yr but I think my favourite that hasn't been shouted out a lot is BLUE, the transition from hazy club vibes to epic strings was brilliant, in fact the last three tracks are all great with the menacing vibes of DINER and the journey of BITTERSUITE. Agreed - the last two minutes of 'BLUE' are stunning. These three "weirder" closing tracks along with CHIHIRO are my favourites on the album. Bit Radioheady (Kid A/Amnesiac/In Rainbows). Love all the turns and surprises A few of the tracks like SKINNY, THE GREATEST and WILDFLOWER haven't clicked with me much yet. But such a strong album overall.
May 29, 20241 yr I finally got to listening to the album in full and oh my god, BLUE! Ahhhh those lyrics and production. Absolute masterpiece.
May 30, 20241 yr Feel like I can properly rank this now 1 BIRDS OF A FEATHER 2 L'AMOUR DE MA VIE 3 THE GREATEST 4 WILDFLOWER 5 THE DINER 6 CHIHIRO 7 SKINNY 8 LUNCH 9 BITTERSUITE 10 BLUE The whole top 7 are 10/10, the only one I'm not connecting to is Blue
May 31, 20241 yr 1 CHIHIRO 2 THE DINER 3 BLUE 4 BITTERSUITE 5 L'AMOUR DE MA VIE 6 BIRDS OF A FEATHER 7 LUNCH 8 SKINNY 9 THE GREATEST 10 WILDFLOWER
June 1, 20241 yr Haven't listened to the whole album and don't intend but birds of a feather is a nice little song if a bit droning.
June 2, 20241 yr I honestly think this is in the top 5 of my favourite albums ever. It is simply flawless. Every song is constantly growing on me and it just all flows into one skinless masterpiece.
June 2, 20241 yr CHIHIRO is a certified bop but think LUNCH is one of her weakest to date and I find BOTF just about right :magic:
June 6, 20241 yr Excellent video which reflects the duality of the song with its beautiful and more menacing moments. Very Running Up That Hill/Electric Heart/Bury a Friend vibe. Hope it gives the song a nice boost, although tbh I'm delighted and surprised CHIHIRO is doing as well as it feels more like an album track with its 5 minutes of mysterious, swirling, building atmosphere. Certainly not as catchy as the more obvious singles LUNCH or BIRDS OF A FEATHER. But the magical and addictive CHIHIRO is now definitely my favourite Billie song of all time, and she has set the bar pretty damn high!
June 8, 20241 yr I also love WILDFLOWER and THE GREATEST as well  This album is by no means When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? or Happier Than Ever but I still love the style and the unusual structure of many songs
