They really remind me of bands like The View or Arctic Monkeys (but with less clever lyrics), so their style of music feels quite nostalgic to me. Hope my favourite can hang onto the top 10! February 24, 20241 yr Ooops sorry I missed the start of this, I was out for a meal with the famalam and then went for a run on the treadmill as soon as I got home but here for the rest of it! Catching up to find myself having been midweek #1 :cheeseblock: although quite understandably with nearly 75% of my points coming from only 3 people, thanks very much to Chez, Rollo and uhsting for the trio of gold medals :wub: + Dobbo for further double digit pointage and Jim and Nate for my other points so far! (and now knocked off #1 after the triple snub in the latest batch of votes but I had no delusions it was going to last much longer anyway :kink:) I was definitely going for standing out here but had no idea if it'd be standing out in a good way for anyone with it being a bit on the harsh side so am glad that risk seems to be paying off decently so far *.* I actually found this song from the same YouTube video where I found my BJSC 161 entry (Re-TROS), comprising 100 random songs submitted by the YouTuber Lyzette G's audience :magic: I don't often pay much attention to lyrics when I listen to songs for the first time (if ever) but I found the lyrics of 'The Law Of Asbestos' pretty immediately gut punching. And the headbanging black metal instrumental helped too. x I see all of my top 4 are unmasked already, and great to see them all in the top 10 so far - doing a 20 swap with Chez oh my :cheeseblock: an excellent bit of modern jazz there. I Googled Nightbus and saw an article describing their sound as like The xx remixing Joy Division so like of course that's a fave for me. And Kath herself unveiled as the person who stole Winter from me gah! (Although I'm now kind of glad my hand was forced to send something a bit more out there so people could hear that as well as 'the lonely girl' which is still a brilliant spoken word/shoegaze blend, I half expected that to get my 20 by default so was pleasantly surprised there were 2 songs I liked even more). Then Dobbo's entry was a banger as well and a well deserved winner at this stage, I think there's a good chance either that or Surren Tweek will end up on top. Was wrong about Rich being the one who sent Winter but still really enjoyed your actual entry too (definitely hearing the Arctic Monkeys vibes) so a shame that one isn't doing better so far. Frost* being Rollo was fairly predictable but a good prog rock pick. Always happy to hear more Drab Majesty even though I kind of feel they're a bit too well known on here for Unknown Pleasures at this point (though I hadn't heard this song before tbf). Doctor Blind delivering one of the best music videos of all tarm *.* (the song was good too). And finally from my votes that have been unveiled already, the music video also slightly overshadowed the song for Jim's entry but again still managed to sneak in, thought that one might have been Jade's entry. sorry for the ramble xx (and I see we have 3 more votes while I was typing this up - thank you Savan for another silver <3)
