Concerts in Hamburg: Indulge in nostalgia with Robbie Williams

The British pop star Robbie Williams gave his first concert at the Hamburg trotting track on Thursday. The second will follow on Friday. The tickets for this cost just 25 euros. The catch is that only HaspaJoker customers had access.

"I'm loving angels instead" it finally sounds at the end of the almost two-hour concert over the trotting track and the heads of the 25,000 fans. The almost 30-year-old song "Angels" immediately triggers a firework of memories - of a former Robbie Williams concert with his teenage best friend, of first car rides with the radio turned up loud, of graduation parties.

The predominantly female fans who made the pilgrimage to the concert today have aged with the superstar. They have developed wrinkles and gray strands together. Yes, there's no other way to put it, we've gotten older, Robbie Williams has gotten older. But he hasn't lost any of his entertainer qualities, his humor and his hip swing.

It is well known that he is still not the very best singer - but that he can inspire his audience in other ways, too. On this evening in Hamburg, he showed his Robbie Williams show, for which his concerts are always worthwhile. He talks about his career, about his time with Take That - not without a side blow to his former band colleagues - and has a lot of contact with his fans. He dedicates almost every song of the evening to people from the audience with whom he previously chatted in front of everyone. It's touching.

With "Angels" at the end of the concert, every line of the fans' lyrics is right, just like with "Feel" or "Let me Entertain you". But his almost forgotten songs like "Come Undone" or "She's the One" are particularly heartfelt. His last album with new songs was released in 2016. "The Heavy Entertainment Show" could not even come close to earlier successes with just under 500,000 sales. The fans want to hear the old classics - as they did this evening.

Tickets for the concert cost 25 euros, which is an absolute bargain at the current ticket prices. By comparison, fans had to pay for a concert of the pop star Taylor Swift for the cheapest seats from 120 euros. The catch is that only holders of a HaspaJoker account could buy tickets for this exclusive concert. On this evening, Haspa also leaves no doubt that it is a concert sponsored by them: the advertising banners that hang and wave everywhere cannot be overlooked.

While Robbie Williams sings, jumps across the stage and talks about his life, the sponsorship does not play a role - but the joint reminiscence. At the end, when his band and the dancers have already left the stage, he sings "Angels" again. While the audience gives it their all, the superstar disappears, leaving nostalgic hamburgers behind.
