July 14, 2024Jul 14 Mabel’s Vitamins was playlisted by 1Xtra and is included on Now 118, so that (unsurprisingly) didn’t play a part in their decisions. Yeah they don’t tend to include rap songs, but there isn’t going to be a blanket ban on anyone who could be playlisted by 1Xtra. 115 may not have included Jorja Smith, but it did have FLO and Ice Spice/Nicki Minaj. Mabel is the closest to an r1xtra artist that they have on the album but I do think that they should’ve included her actual single instead of a promo track
July 14, 2024Jul 14 RAYE was likely absent because it’s a new release and she was no doubt hoping for it to gain more traction before giving it to Now. I can’t imagine they look at what’s happening on 1xtra when compiling the album, it’s not even a station anyone ever talks about in BuzzJack’s radio playlist thread. Some of the big rap/hip-hop/R&B songs are possibly excluded due to the lack of a clean radio edit. Stuff with the odd swear word is probably easy enough to bleep out but if a song is littered with profanities then it’s not very easy to keep the song intact and listenable unless the artist themselves supplies a clean version with different words.

Such a good Summer NOW, but that second Disc of Rock/BritPop/Indie can be struggle to get though. The Artwork is also gorgeous - love the colour schemes for it. July 14, 2024Jul 14 It has not been 27 years since 35 year old me was 8 years old, it just hasn’t. Classic album though. Takes me right back. That Hanson/Eternal opening is life.

July 20, 2024Jul 20 I think the 1987 Yearbook will be next, think this Quiz is a clue as they're all 1987 albums. https://www.facebook.com/nowmusic/posts/pfb...Cl?locale=en_GB
July 20, 2024Jul 20 I think the 1987 Yearbook will be next, think this Quiz is a clue as they're all 1987 albums. https://www.facebook.com/nowmusic/posts/pfb...Cl?locale=en_GB Just seen that quiz and I’d love it if that was hinting that 1987 is gonna be the next yearbook. With Pet Shop Boys appearances, it will most likely be It’s A Sin and Always On My Mind on the main yearbook and Rent and What Have I Done To Deserve This on the extra yearbook. Faith and I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me) will most likely kick off the 1987 yearbooks. I hope Barcelona ain’t gonna be on there as it’s already on extra 1992. With Bananarama, I reckon Love In The First Degree will be included on the main yearbook and I Heard A Rumour on the extra yearbook. I hope we get Johnny Hates Jazz on both yearbooks and I hope Is This Love? by Alison Moyet gets included seeing as it missed the 1986 yearbooks
July 20, 2024Jul 20 I wish Madonna just sold her catalogue so we could see her on these. '87 is all about the Who's That Girl era singles!
July 22, 2024Jul 22 Another clue on their page says get ready to pump up the volume. If 1987 is gonna be the next yearbook, I hope that the one after that is 1989 to get the 80s yearbooks over and done with then next years yearbooks to go back and forth with 70s and 90s Edited July 22, 2024Jul 22 by Hadji

July 23, 2024Jul 23 And don’t forget yearbook 85 to 89 extra track to Oh yeah. I hope Dancing In The Dark gets included on there or on vault 1984. They’ve given another 1987 clue on their social media and it seems that Respectable, True Faith, China In Your Hand, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Fairytale Of New York are gonna be on there Edited July 23, 2024Jul 23 by Hadji
July 25, 2024Jul 25 My local Asda used to stock up their compilations a day early but they stopped it now otherwise I’d have gone there to pick up my Now 118
July 25, 2024Jul 25 My local Asda is so hit and miss for me. Sometimes they come in the day before, other times they won't even put them on the shelf until Saturday.
