June 21, 20241 yr Poor Now Millennium 2006-2007 only going to #2 on the compilation chart. It’s a shame as it’s a decent spin-off and doesn’t keep reusing the same old songs Edited June 21, 20241 yr by Hadji

Bon Jovi – Legendary ==================== TOTAL TIME: 01:19:28 ==================== Given the high volume of sub-3 minute singles these days, it is much more accessible to include more songs on the 80 minute standard disc space... however... it makes crediting the songs on the back cover slightly harder too given spacing issues. So I think a 50 track collection (25 per disc) is about the maximum we could ever hope to see in reality.
June 23, 20241 yr I'd say expect more Radio 2 inspired tracks than that judging the past few volumes They went overboard with the r2 artists on Now 116 and look at the disastrous sales because of it. Now 117 had less r2 artists and it sold more than Now 116 even with the latter being released on the run up to Christmas Edited June 23, 20241 yr by Hadji

June 23, 20241 yr The split between 116 and 117 was exactly the same for singles that were solely playlisted by Radio 2. Each album had 13 each. Most of them got added just because they had a #1 album or because they released an album. There’s not been many #1 albums in between 117 and 118 and the only album artists I expect to see are Bon Jovi, the Libertines and James and the others who’ve had #1 albums have also released big singles ie. Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa and also, Now 117 kicked off with the biggest song on the album whereas Now 116 didn’t and I also heard loads of people saying how Now 117 was a massive improvement on Now 116 Edited June 23, 20241 yr by Hadji
June 23, 20241 yr Put it this way, if they want more disastrous sales, then go ahead and go overboard with the r2 artists. Look at other countries, they fill their albums with actual hits. They don’t include album artists. They should also listen to reviews. Now 116 deserved to flop. I’m glad it flopped and maybe they got the message with Now 117 and included less album artists. They should sack Jenny Fisher and put me in charge. With me in charge, the big artists who don’t get included will be included and there certainly won’t be any r2 artists with me in charge Edited June 23, 20241 yr by Hadji

Germany's Bravo Hits is limping on, not with MOR album artist hits but usually instead packed full of dance filler that comes nowhere near the charts. I'm not sure it's an approach that would win Now more sales if they tried it. Like Now, each Bravo album typically features 10-15 true really big chart hits. The US Nows, meanwhile, are only one disc and still manage to pack the filler in. On the second bolded point, how would you manage that when the big artists in question clearly won't license their music to anyone. Compilations in other countries also fail to feature current hits by Taylor Swift/Harry Styles/Beyoncé/Eminem etc..., this isn't a problem exclusive to UK Now and these artists/labels having an aversion to Jenny Fisher. Also, Now 117 didn't ultimately sell more than Now 116. It sold a few hundred more on the first week, and then a couple of thousand less in the second week to achieve lower first 14 days sales. June 23, 20241 yr Bottom line is, Now 116 sold less than 10k in its first week. No other numbered Now has done that and as for Taylor Swift, she has been appearing on the American series and Now 117 would’ve had slightly more sales if it had been released before Easter Edited June 24, 20241 yr by Hadji
June 23, 20241 yr I will like to say it is by copyright issues, they might get lucky and let it be on the album, like I don’t think Taylor Swift will be on NOW 118 but I put it on my predictions just for out of the blue, they might let her on NOW 118 but I doubt it, plus R2 songs, not everybody likes R2, I only listen to it because of the quiz at 10:30am, maybe they done that to get new listeners a taste of the new albums that they artists released and then listen to them as well. For the US NOWs, from NOW 1 to 31 was just hits from US, and then from NOW 32, they started to release the album with a NOW What’s Next! track, which is totally new and might get released on the next release. Since NOW 33 to NOW 86, they done 16 top hits and then 4-6 NOW What’s Next! tracks to make them popular and then NOW 87 to today, it is like a few NOW What’s Next! but have more songs for the top hits. I just think of it this way with the R2 songs
June 23, 20241 yr Swift's last appearance on the US series was in February 2023's NOW 85 with Anti-Hero. Edited June 23, 20241 yr by WazzupMyBoyz
June 23, 20241 yr Swift's last appearance on the US series was in February 2023's NOW 85 with Anti-Hero. That’s why I don’t understand her absence from the UK series when she was appearing quite a bit on the US series. If she weren’t appearing at all on the US series, then I’d understand her absence from the UK series and they could at least include Cruel Summer if they want to include her as they did include Ready For It? on Now 99
June 24, 20241 yr Bottom line is, Now 116 sold less than 10k in its first week. I don't think it really matters when it was a difference of a few hundred and by week two the total sales for Now 117 were already lower. Let's see what the tracklist and sales for Now 118 brings I suppose, but we should probably be grateful that these numbered albums are still produced at all, I'm sure the profit margins on them must be absolutely minimal for Now these days (cheap to license 80s hits on lucrative vinyl are the profitable cash cows) and licensing Taylor Swift each time would probably bankrupt them. I wonder if the license fee for Taylor is so high that if they did include her, it would be at the expense of all other hits. So we'd get Taylor and 49 fillers, instead of 15 decent hits and 35 fillers like now. And clearly Harry, Beyoncé (and Rihanna and Adele when they release) are just completely unlicensable now. Now US probably have a little more leeway on budget too as it's a one disc album with a lot of cheap fillers at the end so they don't have to shell out for so many other hits to pad out the album. June 24, 20241 yr I’ve waited a decade to see Hadji actually outright say that Jenny Fisher should be sacked and insist that’s hire him. It’s always been there but this is the first time I recall it being stated outright. I love the idea that Jenny Fisher hates Taylor Swift but loves Shania Twain, Simply Red, S Club and Rod Stewart therefore uses her position in Now to inflict her taste on everyone else. That would be wild if true.
June 24, 20241 yr Agreed. If I were in charge of NOW Music, international or emerging artists would be included as well.

That would be wild if true. As for Rod Stewart, it’s only his 70s music that appears on compilations, never his 80s music. There’d be a lot of changes with me in charge. The yearbooks will be released quicker, the 80s yearbooks would’ve been completed by now, the vault editions will be used to include hits that missed the yearbooks and the flops will be the disc fillers, numbered Nows will be released every first Friday of March, July and November, George Michael or Queen won’t constantly be track 1 either Edited June 24, 20241 yr by Hadji
