My ReviewNow That’s What I Call Music! 114 also known as Now 114 was the Spring volume released in 2023. 50 tracks were selected for this edition, and it was the first volume to include music by Caity Baser, Mae Stephens and Adam Lambert.

Artwork Rating: 8/10 Extremely Good

It looks like something out of a comic book which is really unique and untried before. The effect of graphics, cartoon-like characters and slogans makes this the first of it's kind in Now artwork designs and it is noisy in presentational skill!

Disc 1 Favourite: Joel Corry & Tom Grennan – Lionheart (Fearless)

Picked as an unofficial World Cup anthem for England in their 2022 campaign in Qatar, it was something of a disappointment this wasn't included on the previous volume, but it was most pleasing to have it on this volume, and one of Joel Corry's better hits.

Disc 2 Favourite: Skrillex, Fred again.. & Flowdan – Rumble

That infectious line "Killers in the Jungle" was something of a meme at the time, and for Skrillex fans, we have had to wait a few years since his last appearance on Now 91. What a year it was for Flowdan too!

Disc 3 Tracklist:

(A concept of what a third disc might look like if other hits from the era were used)

1. LadBaby – Food Aid 4:01 {1}

2. Harry Styles – Music For A Sushi Restaurant 3:14 {3}

3. Miley Cyrus – River 2:43 {16}

4. Bugzy Malone & TeeDee – Out Of Nowhere 2:51 {9}

5. Strandz – Us Against The World 2:20 {9}

6. Headie One – Martin's Sofa 4:00 {9}

7. Digga D – Energy 2:57 {15}

8. Nicki Minaj – Red Ruby Da Sleeze 3:34 {28}

9. Ice Spice – In Ha Mood 2:09 {58}

10. ArrDee & Cat Burns – Home For My Heart 2:39 {35}

11. Lil Uzi Vert – Just Wanna Rock 2:04 {30}

12. Ayra Starr – Rush 3:05 {24}

13. Anne-Marie – Sad Bitch 2:13 {65}

14. Rita Ora – You Only Love Me 2:29 {57}

15. Melanie Martinez – VOID 4:08 {44}

16. Bakar – Hell N Back 3:34 {20}

17. JVKE – golden hour 3:29 {19}

18. Øneheart x reidenshi – snowfall 2:04 {57}

19. Taylor Swift – Lavender Haze 3:22 {3}

20. Fred again.. – Delilah (Pull Me Out Of This) 4:11 {35}

21. MK & Dom Dolla – Rhyme Dust 3:01 {63}

22. Luude & Issey Cross feat. Moby – Oh My 2:40 {DNC}

23. The 1975 – About You 5:26 {41}

24. Paris Paloma – labour 3:57 {29}

25. Luke Combs – Love You Anyway 3:49 {62}

----------

Total time: 1:20:00

Overall Rating: 6/10 Good

By this point everyone knows what to expect from a Now compilation, so it's less surprising to see so much filler and tracks that did not chart in the UK from less commercial artists. The absence of Miley Cyrus at this time was probably the biggest omission, but she did have an appearance later on in the year. Just two UK #1 singles from only two weeks since the last release is quite a record gap though.

My Best 5 (as of May 2024)

1. Joel Corry & Tom Grennan – Lionheart (Fearless)

2. Skrillex, Fred again.. & Flowdan – Rumble

3. RAYE feat. 070 Shake – Escapism.

4. P!NK – Never Gonna Not Dance Again

5. Dean Lewis – How Do I Say Goodbye

My Worst 5 (as of May 2024)

1. Central Cee – LET GO

2. Stormzy & Debbie – Firebabe

3. KSI feat. Oliver Tree – Voices

4. Jonas Brothers – Wings

5. The Weeknd & Ariana Grande – Die For You - Remix
