I agree completely. I’d happily have Shane singing lead on all songs, I love his voice

I find him a bit annoying at some times too, he should calm down but runs is a big word

I always thought and I still do think that Mark was absolutely awful live during the first tour because he wanted to improvise but he failed. Now, I do agree he oversings it sometimes but at least he doesn't miss a note so I can't say he ruins the songs. I appreciate he adds something different compared to Shane who always sounds exactly like on the album which is honestly a rare gift.

Shane leads 99% of the songs though, Mark is always second.

Shane is excellent live I have to say, maybe I was harsh saying mark "ruins"some of the songs live, there is no doubt he can sing but I think he might be trying to hard with high notes that don't suit the songs live. In the concert I watched I thought he really went particularly overboard on swear it again and it didn't benefit the song at all.
Nice of them to care about the fans and release new music……oh wait, they just want to tour the same old to fill their pockets.
They're still playing catch-up cos of COVID. Pretty sure a US tour was planned before then but obviously cancelled.

I'd rather they get this tour run finished before doing a new album. Take That are releasing their first one of new material in 6 years this year.

Re: Mark. I think Shane is vocally more consistent, as I think Mark uses more playback during live performances than he does. There's never really been one where Shane has mimed but Mark hasn't. If Shane mimes, they all do (from every example I've seen).

He gets the bigger moments, but can be hit and miss. Sometimes he really gets the most out of the end bars of Flying Without Wings and other times it doesn't hit as well. It's just about using his voice in the best way.

I’d image it’s just loads of Irish and British people living in the USA going to the shows
That can't be the sole reason for the shows having seemingly sold out.

I believe their biggest market is East Asia but I'm not struggling to believe that they have a following in the US. Wasn't there the whole thing of radio stations really liking World Of Our Own but refusing to play it once they realised it was by a boyband? I imagine some of that stigma has lessened.

Westlife have been going for 25 years, it's not inconceivable that their music has reached the US.

Sorry, I just get frustrated as a fan. My son is literally named after Kian and I got married to ‘As love is my witness’. I’m also a male and had stick for being a massive fan! Just wished they released more! The last album was not great quality wise either.

They've just announced tour dates in India.

The current setlist appears to have dropped the ABBA Medley and has brought in 'Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You', 'Seasons in the Sun', 'Beautiful World' and 'Home'.

Beautiful World particularly strikes me as a random choice - although I don't mind the song there's still barely anything from the two more recent albums. Having seen the clip from the recent Shanghai concert though they seem to have split the verses a bit so Kian & Nicky get a solo.

I always thought it was madness that ‘Lighthouse’ got chosen as the first single from their greatest hits over ‘Beautiful World’

Yeah, Beautiful World struck me as a more impactful song and I get the impression they didn't fancy Lighthouse that much given they didn't sing it on their Greatest Hits tour.

Looks like Swear It Again is certified PLATINUM last week (600.000 units) [last update in March 2021 - WESTLIFE -- SWEAR IT AGAIN :: 516k]

2.5 years later adds an extra 84k, which averages 2.8k per month, 600-700 units per week.

Also they are enjoying an amazing tour in China at the moment selling out stadiums.

They performed 'The Ordinary Road' (the Chinese song they originally performed as part of a WeChat concert) at some of the China concerts.

I imagine they've got no immediate plans to release anything new but a Christmas song or something would be nice. Just for old times sake (re the Xmas No. 1).

If 2025 will be their next concert tour for their 25th anniversary. They considered to start the count of their 25 years in 1999 now and not in 1998 then

Is this pointing to them releasing anything new this year? That's assuming I've interpreted it as them taking a break from touring.
Well it didn't stop Steps I suppose, nothing to say they couldn't do the same!
I would be keen on them doing a 're-imagined' greatest hits like Take That did in 2018, with re-recordings of their hits.

Technically Steps had 3 albums between 2017-2021 before the Platinum Collection, but artists have done it with less.

I’d be up for that.
