That's a shame. Is that some kind of extra subscription channel or something?

Yeh a random channel that generally picks up games that no one else wants - usually bbc would get it but it’s on when the euros are on so no need for them this year. Premier Sports would also normally have European games in the summer months during the qualifiers no one picks up!

Yeah I get it. It's like BEIn Sport for us Americans then. It should be a competitive tournament this go around with USA at it arguably it's most potential-laden (90% of our roster plays at top line European Leagues, that has NEVER been the case as we are lucky two have like 2-3 players), Mexico, Canada is still a threat, and of course most of South America.

This might be overshadowed by the Euros but it's worth noting the Copa America is running from the 21 June to 15 July for those who want even more international football to cram into their days.

Fixtures here.

So things all get going this evening with the 1am kick off for the first match between Argentina and Canada.

42 Premier League players will be playing in the competition.

Messi makes the Argentinian squad.

Argentina are look to make it their 3rd consecutive major tournament on the trot (following a 2021 Copa America win and their 2022 World Cup win). Can Brazil return to form and get their first major tournament. Or will a different country take the trophy?

The PL has helpfully published the squad lists.

The tournament is being held in the US and is being seen as somewhat a test event for the 2026 World Cup.

Argentina win the opener in Atlanta with a 2-0 over Canada with Alvarez and Martinez the scorers in 49' and 88' respectfully.

Next match is Peru v Chile at 1am tonight.

Argentina became the first nation to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Copa America as Lautaro Martinez's late strike delivered victory against Chile.

The defending champions were dominant throughout at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with 22 shots.

The reffing in the Peru v Canada was beyond atrocious. Apparently it's okay to headbutt people now. Such a blatant red card not given:

  • 2 weeks later...

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez was the hero as Argentina booked their spot in the Copa America semi-finals with a 4-2 penalty shootout win over Ecuador.

After a 1-1 draw in normal time, the match went straight to penalties and Argentina got off to the worst possible start when captain Lionel Messi saw his chipped effort hit the crossbar.

But Ecuador failed to take advantage, Martinez saving their first two spot kicks from Angel Mena and Alan Minda.

Manchester City's Julian Alvarez and Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister scored for Argentina, while former Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi stepped up to convert the winning penalty after John Yeboah had kept Ecuador's hopes alive.

Uruguay wins the penalty shootout 4-2 against Brazil!
Crazy what has happened to Brazil the players are still good though so don’t really get why they’re struggling so much

Poor management.

Shame Brazil got knocked out and the only way for them to play Argentina was in the final.

Should be a good test against either Uruguay or Colombia though. Good to not see any CONCACAF teams make the final - as it should be.
