He's been on a podcast with Steven Bartlett now saying he regrets letting the One Direction boys own the name One Direction, pretty much because he can't make any more money from them using the name if they don't want to.

This is definitely just a money grab for him, and I do feel like Simon's very out of touch and wouldn't support a group of impressionable young people or give them a nurturing environment (Rebecca Ferguson is a prime example of how bad things can get under Simon's management) even if a new boy band on the scene is something I'd be very interested in.

He is a businessman in a sense so of course he wishes he could own the name. :D

I am slightly worried that the boys they're casting are 16 to 18. I know the very nature of boybands are that they're supposed to be pretty young, but I think it's even harder for people to get into the industry at a young age now - in some respects. On the one hand, they'll probably be looked after better, but the social media aspect isn't all that kind.

Has anyone watched this? I've caught the whole thing now.

I've never really watched a Netflix documentary so the presentation wasn't what I'm used to from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 etc.

Much as it was interesting to see the formation of a band I didn't really know what they were going for with it. It clearly wasn't treated as like an X Factor, perhaps closer to what Popstars was with Cowell featuring quite a bit in an ob-doc kind of way.

I’m not going to watch this crap, it seems to be such a sad pathetic attempt at regaining relevance.

This band aren't seriously called December 10? I mean it's cool to have my birthday namechecked at all, but talk about lazy

I had no idea this was on, looks incredibly dated, Simon's not quite moving with the world.
