Thu releases are for maximum exposure, cos there is little competition on a Thu compared to Fri

like Kylie today, who else is releasing this morning? no one, so she can hame the spotlight. If released on Fri, then there's KP, Eminems album and hundreds of other releases

They also do Radio 2 premieres on Thursday mornings, and I don’t think I’ve seen one happening on a Friday before.

This has unfortunately been the bane of our Kylie fan lives, but it's something BMG seem to do with all of their artists.

it’s been getting on my nerves for years how such a large proportion of artists nowadays release songs at the most random times of the week as opposed to Friday midnight!

Katy’s tweet about her release yesterday has 204k likes which is pretty huge for a song that’s almost certainly going to flop
if the GP's reaction to Kylie's single is the same as people on Buzzjack :o don't think i've read anything even slightly positive
As both songs are allegedly out tomorrow, which one will go and debut higher on the UK singles chart?

No competition really - Kylie isn’t known for achieving hit singles (PP and Tension making the Top 20 were her first for a decade).

Katy also has the adage of being her first single back after a break plus Orange Vinyl & CD single released in the UK tomorrow (she has a ton more in the US but guessing they have different rules on amount of variants?).

Is 'My Oh My' a lead single from Kylie or just a random summer collab to tie in with the BST show? Either way I think it will debut top 40, but Katy should debut top 20, depending on quality of course.

Apparently the first single from a Tension re-release (kind of similar to the Disco (Guest List Edition)).

There are rumours of a Madonna collaboration, and also a Katy Perry one, but the latter seems unlikely given her album cycle.

Then there will be a tour and potentially a new album next year.

She really has some momentum now, but I feel they’re wasting it on mediocre collaborations such as this one and the generic Dance Alone

Oh very smart having all those physicals for Kylie

Top 40 guaranteed then despite song quality

Oh and Katy P too, smart labels

How many physical copies did PP or Tension sell?

No idea on PP as the formats were released across multiple weeks - CD, then cassette then mixtape cassette then a vinyl.

Tension week 1 - 4,690 CDs, 2,326 downloads. From memory even taking away the physical and download sales it still would’ve made the Top 40 at around 38/39 on streaming alone.

I think the Katy Perry rumour was for a feature on Katy's album, the tracklist for that has been revealed and she's not on it.

I just heard both tracks, Katy's is better out the two, the Kylie track it doesn't even sound like a Kylie track I wouldn't of know it was hers if it wasn't for the tracking listing. I think Katy will do better however I wouldn't say either was a masterpiece.
as in Katy at 61 and Kylie at 39?
