Posted July 22, 20241 yr Hi all! This thread is the thread for covering Gymnastics at the Olympics this year.. Feel free to discuss all the ins and outs of Gymnastics (Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoling) Any predictions you may have, support for the athletes and anything else you notice as we kick off on Saturday!
July 29, 20241 yr Just watching the Men's team competition now - really feel for that Chinese athlete who just fell of the bar twice, especially given how much of an impact it can have on the team score.
July 29, 20241 yr GB coming 4th. Japan take the win, China in 2nd and the USA in 3rd. Edited July 29, 20241 yr by DoBelieveTheHype
July 29, 20241 yr I was kinda iffy on them bringing Stephen Nedorosick as a pommel specialist during trials especially when they had better all-around potential from the likes of Khoi Young/Shane Wiskus/Donnell Wittenburg but now I understand why they picked him Frederick Richard on high bar tho... chef's kiss
July 29, 20241 yr 3rd Olympics in a row that GB have come 4th in the men's team event oop! Not seen much of the gymnastics yet but I did catch the very end of this, indeed those couple of falls for the Chinese gymnast were quite an oof, think it may have denied China the gold.
July 30, 20241 yr 3rd Olympics in a row that GB have come 4th in the men's team event oop!Woman's World outsold I'm afraid
July 30, 20241 yr Italy grabbing a silver!!! :cheer: They were super consistent today and it really paid off, shoutout to Alice D'Amato's floor and Manila Esposito's beam in particular. I was super worried for Brazil after those mistakes on beam but they really picked it up in the last few events. China though...........
July 30, 20241 yr 4th for the GB women as well and missing out by a very small margin </3 (nice bronze for Brazil though). Hopefully Becky Downie in a good position for the individual uneven bars medals though as she slayed that x
July 30, 20241 yr Author Not sure we need three commentators for the gymnastics instead got that awful Christine Still.
July 31, 20241 yr not me tuning in for the All-Around Men's only to see Paul Juda and Fred Richard fight for THEIR LIVES in each rotation :drama: oh they're in the TRENCHES Ukraine hitting surprisingly :o
August 1, 20241 yr wonder if we’ll see Simone’s YDP or Rebeca Andrade doing a Triple Twisting Yurchenko for vault
August 1, 20241 yr the bars rotation scared me but Simone just about clinches it! It was a really close race throughout and the fight for bronze really came down to who went out of bounds
August 2, 20241 yr Well I turned on at the right time to see Bryony Page get her gold! A fab result and didn't really expect it with her only qualifying in fifth but all the standings were shaken up in the final!
August 3, 20241 yr Bronze for Jake Jarman in the floor - the commentators all expected Luke Whitehouse to get into the Top 2 after his performance though so a bit of a surprise to see him in sixth! Nice to see a gold for The Philippines though, not often they do so well in gymnastics.
August 3, 20241 yr A gold medal for Ireland in the gymnastics with Rhys McClenaghan on the pommel horse. Well done!
