April 8, 20206 yr Author Their edit of Doja Cat is savage, less than 2 mins and the rap parts are removed
April 8, 20206 yr Author A rare 7 weeks for The Other Side too and even rarer for it to drop from the A List and stay on! (I say it's rare, but it has been 3 months since James Blunt and Sigala jointly got 7 weeks just after Christmas).
April 8, 20206 yr Their edit of Doja Cat is savage, less than 2 mins and the rap parts are removed  The rap part is the best part though.
April 9, 20206 yr FFS Radio 2! And then they wonder why people like 37-year-old me stick with R1. Still, at least they're playing it. Rap has been around 40 years, they need to get over themselves now. Suppose a lot of the older listeners hate it though. Must be hard catering for people in their mid-thirties (many of whom love rap and dance) AND mid-sixties (lots of whom despise rap and dance). Edited April 9, 20206 yr by HiyaLuv
April 9, 20206 yr Author I guess that’s why their playlist is so varied as they need to cater to such a wide audience and not just teens and young adults. RE: Doja Cat, there is a clean edit available that they could’ve used, however I guess this is also an official edit as R2 don’t often edit the songs themselves so the label will have given them it to use. They’re not completely adverse to rap, but the last actual song with a rap they playlisted was Cardi B on Finesse (iirc) rather than the original version (and they still play that a lot!) but recent examples of Ellie Goulding, Liam Payne and Little Mix show that they are not too welcoming of it, especially when a rap-less version exists. EDIT: I stand corrected, South of the Border was the last song with a rap playlisted, but again it’s Cardi so they must like her she can stay

April 9, 20206 yr Author Did they play the Cardi version of Girls Like You by Maroon 5 or the original? The version without Cardi haha so no consistency with her either I guess

April 15, 20206 yr Author Just checked out that Kiesza track, it's great. Already a big fan of Melanie C and Major Lazer (their first time gracing Radio 2's playlist!)
April 16, 20206 yr Kiesza's R2 add is a surprise, have they even supported any of her last few singles?
