Andy Burrows is great!

I never said he wasn't, I just mean that he's a relatively low-profile act who is guaranteed massive Radio 2 play for anything he releases. I rather like that about R2, even though some of their other faves are quite tiresome.

Madonna's picking up her crown and putting it back on her head. *.*

It still amazes me that A-list support from the biggest station in the country doesn't give you a hit. Poor Gavin Degraw.

That just highlights the difference between Radio 1 and Radio 2. Radio 2 might be bigger but it's not tailored to give hits, it's more about selling albums with its target audience. No idea how Gavin's album has done (if it's out yet? idk) but he probably has benefited/will benefit somehow in that respect.

Yep, it obviously has some affect but R2's audience just aren't the types that buy a 99p single on their phone (obliviously not everyone - there are exceptions). But they are likely to go to a shop and buy an album. It's the other way round with R2, lots of their single hit makers don't sell many albums.

Yeah, Radio 2 aren't trying to make hits and nor are they playing tracks in the expectation that they'll become hits.

Also, you have to remember that the breadth of music played by Radio 2 means that inevitably any given track will fail to appeal to a large proportion of the audience. I should know, I can't stand DeGraw.

Quite often they don't even sell the album though either. Gavin Degraw's album came out this week and isn't going to make the top 40.

Its out and scraped into the top 170 with just under 500 sales

 Oh gosh. Probably more sales than it would've gotten without R2 support :kink:
