Radio 1 only put her on there because they were getting widely ridiculed for being ageist and out of touch. Which they truly are.

And I bet the majority of those complaining never even listen to Radio 1, it's just something for people to get on the bandwagon because they're getting older and have outgrown Radio 1. How many Kylie fans are actually listening to Radio 1 these days? Why do you keep expecting Radio 1 to keep playlisting her? I just don't get it!

Radio 1 has very clearly set out it's strategy as to what it is as a brand, a radio station, what it does and who it's for. 'Padam Padam' was a bit of a one off - a big hit, perfect summer pop song which they could see was gaining momentum for their target audience, so stuck it on the C List to gain abit of good will and publicity.

Padam in my opinion is a perfect Heart song and their listeners are the the right audience for it, but I haven't seen any heated social media hate from fans or silly Daily Mail articles about it not being played there.

I love alot of artists that Radio 1 have now stopped supporting, but things change, life moves on and most importantly Radio 1 needs to keep moving and adapting to a new audience and also help develop the crop of new up and coming artists whilst being relevant to an audience of under 30's whilst remembering the back catalogue of hits from artists they are no longer able to support new music from in their Anthems and 00's/10's shows.

Personally I think Radio 1 sounds the strongest it has done in years in terms of music, content, station sound and presentation as well as engaging to their target audience. They have it spot on at the moment. Radio 2 and Local Radio is the BBC's home for music and content aimed at the over 30's and has been for years and 6 Music for those who like it abit more indie and alternative.

I'm a kylie fan and im still in the age range of radio 1. It should be also be worth noting that she is having a reinassance of chart success which could mean she is bringing in loads of new fans. Her music sounds perfect on Radio 1 just as much on R2. I understand the whole demohraphic change and all that but i just also dont see how the age of a artist should matter if they still appeal to a younger auidence.

Thanks for summing up my thoughts on this! Really not sure why Radio 1 continues to live rent free in Kylie fans' heads even after they playlisted 'Padam Padam' (with the predictable goalpost moving to 'they only did it because [x]') yet I barely ever hear a peep about the imo far more egregious fact that Heart have never once touched it, I can't think of any reason it wouldn't be perfect for their audience.

Weird that R1 and R2 are supporting different Olivia Dean singles!

R2 have already supported Dive, at a similar time to R1 previously playing it earlier this year so I'm not sure what R1 are actually doing pushing it again :kink:

Just noticing Ultranate on there - I assume it’s a dance track that’s not on R1s radar?

Also love to see new OMD on there.

I don't think Ultra Naté has been on R1's radar since 1998!

Very late add for 'Seasons'!

Is the Cliff Richard song an updated version of his #2 hit from 1989 or a completely different song?
