Ok, so I’ve made a massive mistake, I’m just going to post the rest of the rate now haha.

Oh!

No worries - these things happen... and these new results are much better! :D

Aww yay the right winner and a really good Top 5. “She’s A Rainbow” in 5th is a great result and that was a wonderful new discovery for me.

Thanks for running this Ed!

Ah, that's more like I expected!

'Gimme Shelter' had my highest remaining score on 21 points, so the top 5 of my votes all missed the top 5, but no huge surprises there - interesting to see the top 4 so close though.

Thanks for running this Ed! ^_^

How wonderful to see She's a Rainbow as high as 5th  It's such a standout track, so wonderfully colourful and eclectic in it's production and a gorgeous piano melody, I know their psychedelic sound didn't really work out overall, but that is a forgotten gem.

I can't argue with any of that top 7, in fact they almost exactly resemble my final votes, Paint It, Black was my runner up and has a wonderful ominous sound so a very deserving winner, and Satisfaction and Sympathy... have some iconic riffs. In general, their discography's a bit too samey for my liking, but the highlights are big.

Thanks for hosting, Ed!

Yes thank you for running the rate ^_^

These were my top 10… I was broadly in line with the results really

25 Paint It Black (by FAR my favourite of theirs)

24 Sympathy for the Devil

23 She’s a Rainbow

22 Ruby Tuesday

21 Start Me Up

20 Let’s Spend the Night Together

19 (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction

18 Angie

17 Gimme Shelter

16 Wild Horses

All is right with the world when Paint It, Black is #1

It's probably my favourite song - certainly in the top 5

My 10

25 Paint It Black

24 Jumpin’ Jack Flash

23 Honky Tonk Women

22 Sympathy for the Devil

21 Gimme Shelter

20 19th Nervous Breakdown

19 Mother's Little Helper

18 Brown Sugar

17 (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction

16 Get Off of My Cloud

As you can see, I'm generally not that interested in anything that doesn't feature Brian Jones or Mick Taylor. For me that period from '64 to '73 was exceptional.

Also, although there's a few already going on in here recently and mainly because I've rekindled my love affair with him would anyone be interested in/not object to me running a Prince singles rate?

He always seems to be forgotten yet has a great catalogue of hits to pick from and I'm not convinced there's as clear a winner as some artists.

Thanks for running this, Ed.

I only gave nine points to Paint It Black. (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction got 19 points, Sympathy For The Devil 23, Ruby Tuesday 24 and She's A Rainbow 17.

Yeah, definitely up for taking part in a Prince rate. Already know what my wildcard’s going to be :)

Big fan of Prince, though nothing much cop from when he became The Artist Formerly Known As Talented :teresa:

Thanks for sorting all this Ed! Great to see Jumpin' Jack Flash top 10, that video is amazing. She's A Rainbow is fab so heartwarming to see that top 5 despite not being a UK single, and Paint It Black on top is about right, it is their most popular these days. My classic period ended in 1969 and started in 1964 for the Stones, with sporadic goodies beyond that. Sympathy For The Devil worked as a dance remix, and that riff has been borrowed on many a great pop single to boot - Hi Bananarama (& Youth) & Only Your Love, for one. Ruby Tuesday is great too, though Melanie is the version I know better.

My list:

25 points: Paint It Black

24 points: (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction

23: Jumpin’ Jack Flash

22: Honky Tonk Women

21: Sympathy for the Devil

20: Ruby Tuesday

19: She’s a Rainbow

18: Miss You

17: 19th Nervous Breakdown

16: The Last Time

15: Start Me Up

14: Undercover of the Night

13: Street Fighting Man

12: We Love You

11: Living in a Ghost Town

10: Out of Time

9: Get Off of My Cloud

8: It’s All Over Now

7: Angie

6: Gimme Shelter

5: Emotional Rescue

4: Brown Sugar

3: It’s Only Rock and Roll (But I Like It)

2: Fool to Cry

1: Tumbling Dice

OK. Sounds like there's enough potential interest for a Prince rate. I can set it up in the week.

Fantastic - hope you’ve got a suitable “rate” album pun in mind haha x
