A year later, McFly - Do Ya/Stay With Me only reached #18, and before 1997 the Children In Need singles weren’t very popular! Although with the context of Headlines being a comeback single by a group with 9 #1s, and following a decade of #1 or Top 10 Children in Need singles, it was undeniably a major underperformance for the Spice Girls and the charity.

It was trully badly handled, from the music itself, to the video and the promotion... yet again, they thought the name of the Spice Girls themselves would sell the music, but what we've come to learn since the Forever era and the solo works, is that when it comes to the music itself, they *have to* put their hearts into it. They didn't during the Greatest Hits era, and it shows!

It's a horrible idea at this point, it's simply far too early. By all means think about doing it in 2046... but not now!! They're only in their early 50s (or 49 x), there's really no valid excuses for

They didn't care how it sold or charted, more importantly the label didn't. Let's not forget the download was released a week before the GH, then the GH the next week, then the physical CD the week after. The physical CD also had no incentive to buy it when the GH cd with Headlines on it was already out.

When you think also that Mel C liked Spice is back from the GH sessions that could have easily been a b-side.

Simon and the girls only cared about the tour, the label only cared about the GH. I mean look at the US where they sacrificed a good (probably top 10 position) to exclusively shift 600k copies off to Victoria Secret. Might have made financial sense to get 600k copies sold up front but it means the album has a 90 something peak (I think it was 90 something) from finally getting released with the CD/DVD in shops that reported to soundscan in January, two months after being sold in VS.

Meh!

I wouldn’t have minded getting the badges, but for £29?! I hate how expensive merch is these days.

Haven't ordered anything from the new merch, sad to say they have lost me. I totally know there is zero option to do anything as Geri is worse than Victoria now (Vic would do Glastonbury and let the documentary be released) and the other 3 are at ransom but I just cant find the effort to care anymore.

Hopefully all their solo projects flop and this merch doesn't sell well as I would happily have them all bugger off for a few years and stop souring their legacy with shit group merch and awful solo projects.

This is where I am at as well...

Saw this on YouTube today and wanted to share lol

No interest in AI versions... what the f*** is the point in re-writing history?

It’s all a bit of fun. I quite enjoy seeing how fans imagine the lines would’ve been shared between the girls.

And that Geri vocal is spookily accurate!

Can y'all remember the rumours about VB relessing Bad Girl by Madonna?! And a low q audio of MADONNA!! singing the chorus, about 20 secodns, was on limewire, under the name Victoria Beckham?!

This just popped onto my YouTube timeline... I hadnt seen most of these clips to be honest and it does shed some new light into the post-Forever era for me.

Victoria, around 0:54 does seem pretty miffed that they all just 'fizzled off' from making music together. Bless her, she was genuinly up for Forever and more music even after she realised that Mel C wasnt up for it anymore hey?... You could tell that if Mel C had given it the green light, all of them would be back in the studio and on tour!

Does anyone have that Parkinson interview? WOuld be good to know what she says before and after that clip

Mel C was so so done... You can see how much she hated the group back then, which is sad because she was mostly against the public profiling and press, but she does trash the group a lot during that time. She really killed the group's chances of ever doing music again post 2000 by refusing to ever do it again... Bless her, we know why, but I will never not make me sad how pissed off she sounds when talking about the band itself from 2000-2007...

Anyway, this made me a bit sad

Here it is!

I'm not sure whether I saw this when it aired or not, but funnily enough I saw it recently (a clip posted by SpiceGirlsNet!) and I was actually surprised by what Victoria had to say about how it all ended. I didn't realise that any of them had expressed particular regret over it - and that was only 3 years afterwards!

Oh thank you! Just seeing that for the first time, dont think I ever watched it before either.

Yeah Victoria seems pretty candid, and a bit pissed off about how it all ended, and she is right in saying that they shouldnt have ended it the way they did. And she is very right about also people needing to recognise that the Spice Girls were amazing and everything they achieved needed celebrating.

Good for her for standing her ground, she has always been nothing but positive about the group and the girls. They were pretty much seen as a laughing stock back in 2003, which is sad and also sadly Mel C also played to it a bit which only made her look worse.

I think by 2003, Victoria realised how hard it was to do it alone and realized how much they could have achieved even more if they hadn’t given up so easily.

It was her that tried to get the band back for the reunion in 2007.

I actually like that there was no official announcement or breakup in 2001. Didn't like the Mel C constant dissing though - was giving Jesy Nelson vibes. But again, we get where that's coming from.

Ironic that the same Victoria is the least keen in recent years.

Mel C was a total bitch from 2000 onwards up until the announcement of the reunion. Fine to be against the whole 'industry' side of things and how it affected her. But she straight up went against the girls themselves, which is what I dont really get. She went back to the group, TWICE, as soon as her solo work dried up.

Victoria probably moved on eventually after years of neglect from Mel C about the group, and the industry being so against her solo work. So she moved on, and you can understand that to be honest. Geri was at least given a chance. Victoria's solo projects were pretty much done as soon as the group disbanded in late 2000.

If only Victoria had her first album ready by 2000 and dropped after Out Of Your Mind success, maybe she could have done a "Schizophonic" type of album run. Since OOYM sold 180,000 copies, the album may be the least it could do would be a third of that so 60,000 copies first week would give her a top five album debut at least. But then, Forever would never have been released lol.
If Victoria had her album ready to release off the back of OOYM she would have had the highest first week sales of any solo album I reckon. Whether she could have kept the campaign going like Geri and Melanie C, who knows.

I know I keep posting AI stuff but this is wild to me so I wanted to share!
