It's such a bad bad idea... And this was clearly planted by Simon and his team to see if there is any traction to it. Ive had a look and all comments everywhere seem very negative, so that should be a stop to this stupid idea.

What Simon and the girls need to understand is that ANY project of theirs that doesn't involve the girls themselves being present and committed, FLOPS! They are not like ABBA, they are iconic and legendary but their legacy is based on THEM both as a group and individuals together being friends and present. That's it.

Anytime they failed to not do promo (Forever, Headlines, even the GH) or not even perform themselves (like that awful Viva Forever musical), it flops. People want them, not avatars. That's why also that animated film that was announced failed to be made. People don't want made up crap, they want them.

Go on tour - it will sell out. Do a re-release of their GH and ACTUALLY PROMOTE IT TOGETHER and it will sell. Do that documentary for Netflix with them included, turning up together to the launch? It will be watched!

Try and be ABBA wannabes? It will flop, and rightly so.

We need a concerted way to get Geri on board for a tour at least.

I have no idea how, but that will be the only thing worth doing if they want to get the millions they obviously want to be paid to do anything.

It does piss me off that they didnt - and wont - even promote their own music re-releases... they still get millions everyyear from it, if they promoted or did more as a group, they would do even more!

It's so frustrating...

It's a horrible idea at this point, it's simply far too early. By all means think about doing it in 2046... but not now!! They're only in their early 50s (or 49 x), there's really no valid excuses for holograms to even cross any of their minds! It's madness that they think copying ABBA again would be a great idea.

The five four of them need to realise that their options for the Spice Girls are: tour, release new music, or... just do nothing (the latter being what they're apparently the very best at doing). 😴 Any attempt at a project that doesn't directly involve them is not wanted and likely won't succeed, as Mr.X put very well.

They also need to be realistic about their own catalogue. They're very fortunate that they have been able to rely on a fairly small discography for touring, but it just doesn't work outside of that. It's a big reason why the musical failed. They didn't make enough hits to sustain such projects. If they were completely passionate about the idea of a hologram show, then put in the ground work for it... get back together in the studio, make more albums. Promote that music well, tour it, force casuals to hear the new stuff alongside what they came for (Wannabe!!). Make those songs recognisable and maybe that'll help them out in the 2040s that they've got more music to draw from. But no, they're too lazy and short sighted.

Sorry, they're just too infuriating. I don't think I've ever rolled my eyes more at something regarding the Spice Girls than seeing this article! 😅

I’m starting to think it’s a mistake for them to get back with Simon. He’s been spewing really terrible ideas since he got sacked in 1997 and this adds on top of it. Sometimes it feels like he doesn’t understand how people want to see the girls because of them. Like when he thought that he would replace Geri with a new girl, holding worldwide competition (basically became American Idol show) and the animation (that now didn’t go anywhere).

Absolutely agree with you both. I'm quite enraged at this lol

If, one day, they get to do these awful avatars idea, they need a broader discography and need to be more present in people's minds. For that, they need to be out there as a group, and do more music, more touring.

HELL, they don't even need to do extensive touring, they can do some musical events, like award shows, TV specials, etc. ANYTHING music related lol I can't believe a group like them only has 3 albums.... it's mind-boggling...

Simon is a dinossaur and has been for a long time... Yes he gave them massive fame but he also did a lot of wrong for their legacy, with so much advertisement and relenteless schedules at the time, removing the focus from the music.

This was also the guy who said that he would have done a TV show to find a replacement for Geri in 1998. He obviously has little idea on what he had on his hands, or at least he lost sight of it at some point down the line.

Anyway, urgh... music or touring, or please just leave us alone lol

Whilst I understand the frustrations above... on the other hand, this is really a situation that's been of the media's own making. If they hadn't spent the best part of the last 25 years so cruelly harpooning Victoria at every given opportunity for so much as breathing - and to some extent Geri - then there's a much higher chance that we'd be getting a full five piece tour again. I believe the expression we're after here is that they made their beds and are now kicking off because they shat in it and have to lie down in it.

That said, it is the most realistic proposition for them to do if they get it right. It's something they'd not have to make any massive commitments to beyond promoting its launch. And also, if it's in one dedicated place like the ABBA Arena is then it negates the need for them to go around the world with it, as international fans can make a point of including it on a visit to London. It'd be no different to Beatles fans going on the wealth of walking tours in and around Abbey Road.

My feeling is it it would work if it was more than just the straightahead concert like Voyage, more something along the lines of The Friends Experience that's over at the ExCel Centre, where they can see costumes or recreate iconic setups up close. I know there was that Spice exhibition at Islington Design Centre a few years ago that I went to which did something similar and was totally fan run?

I appreciate it's hard where Simon Fuller is involved to have the highest expectations (watch where my eyes rest S Club), but equally writing it off whilst it's all just rumours is a little hasty.

Even if there was to be an official exhibition about them somewhere in London. It doesn't mean many foreign fans residing outside of the UK and continental Europe could afford to travel overseas to visit it.

A future tour should place some importance on regions they either: haven't toured yet, or little of previously.

Include and bring some new or unreleased content and features into the concerts. (If possible and available.)

If you include locations in Europe and North America, where they have already visited and performed at, at least once or twice before. It would make for a much longer and more demanding tour schedule.

Just tour the world next year (even just the four of them) for the 30th and then they can do whatever after. Like, this is literally the perfect way to end their legacy.

Omg I'll be buying that - goes to check it out immediately!

and yet we don't even know if Forever25 is coming or not

Still a bit early for that, the teaser post for Spiceworld 25 happened on 12th July, then we were made to wait until 27th September for the pre-order to go live (lol)

Also the physical of Girls Aloud's live show, which has a silver background, is actually a shiny/reflective material i.e. what people thought/hoped Spiceworld 25 would be like but wasn't...!

That Spiceworld design was such a crime, jfc... what a total waste of a release that was...

Been having a bit of a moment with "Holler" the last few days. Maybe it's a sign of my maturity but in recent years I've actually found myself returning to it more than I did back when it came out. It still slaps!

It's such a brilliant record and would be far fondly remembered if it had been done by some big American girl band for sure! 🥰
