This is tracking to be absolutely MASSIVE! Eyeing a potential $125m-$135m Thanksgiving 5-day debut beating 'Frozen' $98m! It would be in a battle with 'Frozen II' (which was released a week prior - hence why it's not the top debut) for the biggest Thanksgiving weekend of all time which did $125m!

I'm so excited to see how far 'Moana 2' can go! It has all the potential to be monstrous!

They just released 'Beyond' the end credits version!

It's gorgeous. Not quite 'How Far I'll Go' but still stunning!

I'm seeing this next weekend, genuinely really looking forwards to it. I must give the first one a watch again beforehand.
I'm booked in to see this on Saturday as well, I loved the first one so I'm buzzing for this even though the trailer doesn't give too much away but I'm sold on anything with Auli'i tbh

Critics are doing the MOST for this movie

It’s… FINE?? Not the sequel Moana deserves, but it’s definitely not as horrendous as it’s made out to be, imo. It’s just a very 2.5/3 out of 5 kinda film. Also, critics really need to know when something is for kids and when they understand it’s not for them etc…

You can tell the story was made a Disney+ series. So it’s a shame they couldn’t get a tighter story for a proper, worthwhile sequel, but after the resounding success for this, I hope they can get a better story for the 3rd installment.

My sold out screen ended with clapping and cheering which I wasn’t expecting, so I think the casuals and families are taking to it.

Edit: ‘Beyond’ is absolutely stunning too. I love it!

It was ok. Enjoyable but nothing special at the same time. Wasn’t really needed but I will still see the third one kind of thing.

Yeah, I love when a film smashes in box office vs critics reviews.

It’s breaking records left and right!!!

They under estimated how popular Moana would be… even though the first movie is their most streamed movie on Disney+! If they had a stronger story that wasn’t originally set to be a D+ series, this could have been even more special!

I’m ecstatic for the franchise though. She deserves this moment after most people ignored the first originally!

I couldn't get into this much at all, which didn't surprise me as the trailer was pretty rubbish, but a real shame considering that I really enjoyed the first movie. Such a drop off in quality. :( The highlight was the chicken.

It's amazing to see how well cinemas are doing over the past few weeks (my screening of this was pretty packed on Friday afternoon - it had me wondering how so many people seemed to be off work, and the kids not at school ), but it makes me a bit sad that this is both outperforming "Wicked", and breaking records such as 'biggest ever opening for an animation', when there are so many other animated movies that deserve that record a lot more. The mediocrity doesn't need rewarding.

I enjoyed this! Was it the best Disney film I've ever seen? No, but will I see the next one? Definitely

I hadn't really read many reviews and didn't know much about the premise but Lew mentioned it was doing terribly on Rotten Tomatoes but honestly, it's a kids film at the end of the day so if critics are looking for something artful with deep meaning etc then they're in the wrong place. You've got to know where to set the bar with these kinds of films and I think it checked all the boxes as far as Disney films go. Auli'i is fantastic and I hope to see her become a more prominent name in film and even music, it says a lot when she can do Moana and a character like Janis from Mean Girls and do both so well. My only gripe would be that I wanted more from the bat woman but I'm hopeful we'll get that in the next film
