Sad. But I’m not surprised.

Doubt this will be half as impactful now unless she sings ‘can’t!’ with a heavy wink to the camera or keeps it silent where the word should have been and lets the crowd sing ‘Kant’. There are enough big Eurofans in there that they would do that.

  • it appears the inevitable has belatedly happened now and she’s been banned from using the word “kant” in the performance

the EBU are such kants (surely this should have been dealt with when she won, it was initially approved! not like a broadcaster obsessed with the watershed would only just be finding out about this n

very disappointed by the decision and understandably this seems to stem from the BBC

I guess she can just say serving, BBC are so stupid lmfao I will never understand this fuss over a word, and it’s unfair to Miriani when it was originally allowed and there is no only a week to submit songs and get approval. I get our broadcasting rules but it should have been discussed much prior to this not just before the deadline

I think that’s what they might do, like just go “s-s-serving” and leave it up to the crowd, BBC can’t do anything about that but will still be in a tizz if it’s even said in that way lol

We need aussies on our side now, this shouldn’t be a problem. Those kants use the word hourly x

This is such a late reaction, probably some other broadcaster complained WHAT ABOUT TGE CHIPDREN??!11! hence such a late decision.

EBU, yet again, prove to be useless f***s.

Although knowing EBU they will probably edit the crowd noise right away, or at the final if they are stupid enough to not realise the crowd will be chanting it.

Such a shame that this decision has been made although as soon as I heard the song, I was super surprised that it got initial approval. It's so clear what she's saying even if technically it's not that word.

I shall be screaming KANT at my telly anyway. I hope that whatever edited version they come up with doesn't affect the impact of the song too much. It's a serve.

This. BBC were handwringing over this and clurchinf at their pearls since they found out about it. Ireland probably also complained. It's rieiculous. BBC last year sent an entry that simulated sex on stage!!! They have no righAT, none, to complain abour a word. Watershed does not matter, either, as there is CONTEXT: A CELEBRATION OF LANGUAGE AND CULTURE AND KANT IS MALTESE!!!

Awww boooooo!!!! This is still going to be a banger!

Apparently this got bought up on Radio 4 and the BBC didn't actually complain about this song. Rumour has it was SBS or RTÉ.

Fans seemed to have just assumed it was the BBC

Eurofans jumping to conclusions? Surely not LOL

It was BBTory. They wrote a report to the EBU!!! I am absolutely STUNNED at this. STUNNED. BBTory are hypocrires. They sent an act simulating SEX ON STAGE just last year!!!!!!

Miriana on Newsnight about the controversy! love her commitment to 'I am just an innocent Maltese girl, it means a lot of things to different people, I am just serving singing 🥺'

The censorship is so... unnecessary lmao. Ugh.

(But I do wish I liked the song more than I do)

New version premieres tomorrow at 6pm CET, it is simply titled Serving cheeseblock

Without the actual kant part making headlines i dont think the song is all that great, its getting great attention but possibly for all the wrong reasons.
