Anyhoo ~

Lots of good stuff happening in the chart this week! Brill to see 'Not Like Us' getting a second week at the top after all, I thought after the Monday mids that Chappell was likely to overtake and still wasn't certain he'd hang on even with the gap growing a bit by Wednesday - two consecutive weeks at the top is something it didn't even manage in the US (it's had 3 total weeks at #1 there but in 3 separate runs). Obviously very low sales but amazing that the boost from the Super Bowl has lasted so long (even keeping 'All The Stars' in the top 10 still as well). I'm still not getting the hype behind 'Sports car' at all (it's actually my least favourite of Tate's recent singles which I know is a wildly hot take x) so I'm ambivalent about that being as high as #3 but 'Revolving door' was immediately clicking with me way more than her other recent singles so a pleasant surprise to see it debuting in the top 10.

Very pleased that 'Little Bit Closer' did hang on as Sam's third charting song as it's the first one that's really clicked with me from this era (glad there was at least one, I do think 'Arm's Length' is solid too but everything else hasn't really done anything for me). Then brill to see 'Headlock' is still going and up to a nice new top 30 peak this week and thrilled to see Oasis and Fontaines D.C. both managed to stay in the top 40, I was definitely fully expecting the latter to narrowly miss out! Not looking like it'll be hanging around for too long though so will be odd for now that this and 'In The Modern World' are their two highest peaking songs while their other 3 charting songs all had much more impact overall.

  • What a fresh top 2! One released in 2020 and the other one released 9 months ago.

  • Went to look at New Music Friday UK for inspiration and got side-tracked by artists called Chubby Cat and Annie-Dog being next to each other on there
