I'm updating one of my old threads and also cannot embed a youtube video no matter what I try. I am pasting the full link, including the https:// bit, directly into the post editor, and pressing the return key from the end of the link and it just shows up as a link, or it gives me the option to undo that and then just shows it as ordinary text, but nothing I try will let me embed the actual video.

Just to add that I have now worked out that it also needs you to type a return key (as opposed to the shift+return that I almost always end a line with) immediately BEFORE you post the link in, as well as afterwards, and even then it only sometimes works the way it is supposed to, and even if it works it only sometimes lets you actually post the edited version of the post that visibly contains the embedded video, but at least now I can sometimes embed a youtube video, rather than never embed them. I'm just adding this comment here to aide anyone else (quite probably including future me) who also Googles for help with this problem.

I had trouble embedding videos today but I assumed it was related to all of the other issues going on with the site since yesterday.

I also have sometimes trouble to embed the youtube clips. It seems a bit random - sometime it works and sometimes not. Currently it is not working for me:

In the picture you attached, there's a message which says the following: "Text was automatically converted to a link. Click to undo". Just do that and it will solve the issue.

I believe it means the uploader has toggled off 'allow embedding' so that you can only watch it on YouTube.

I've come across this issue before so to try and find out why I had a play around with some of the videos I've uploaded in the past, turned off 'allow embedding' on one and basically had the same thing happen where I could no longer post it on here.

Interesting. I never knew about this because I thought that all of the YouTube videos should be allowed to be embedded. The things you learn every day, lol!
