Posted January 17, 200718 yr With the advent of the brave new chart world, are midweeks and Sunday chart predictions really needed or worth it? Now that any song can be added to the chart, and the Sunday chart could be significantly different to the midweeks, do we really need them? If we didn't have them, would you really miss them? :o
January 17, 200718 yr To be honest, i like to be surprised, i dont really like to know whats happening :D I only look to keep my forums updated with the Neccessary Info :D I wouldnt miss them at all :cheer:
January 17, 200718 yr Author Personally, I would miss them, but sometimes when we get few updates, or if i'm away, it's quite nice to get a surprise!
January 17, 200718 yr Interesting topic, in some cases yes I would miss them, I do like to be surprised but at the moment, last Sunday's chart was a bit of a surprise, Koopa were in the top 20 in the midweeks by Sunday they were Top 35, it seems the final chart looks completely different from the mids at the moment probably because of the low sales, just have to wait until sales pick up to notice the difference.
January 17, 200718 yr I wouldn't miss them at all, the one drawback of being chart mod is that you have to see the midweeks at some point during the week - it's unavoidable. The reason I'm here was for midweeks in the first place, but I'd much rather do without them now. ^_^ They ruin the surprise for me and like Jester said, aren't necessary or relevant with the new chart rules in effect.
January 17, 200718 yr I think they make our life a bit easier with preparing the chart-show thread for Sundays with new entries, plus they add a further indicator to the actual chart regarding whether their position is improving or worsening from midweek. I like to see what is going on with the midweeks, as it makes it less of a neccessity to listen to two incompetent DJ's counting down the chart on Radio 1 Sunday afternoon/evening.
January 17, 200718 yr Perhaps though we could skip the Weekly Sunday chart and have a weekly snapshot chart instead? It seems to me more often then not, the #1 on iTunes on a Sunday is more likely to be the most popular single on that day then the one from the OCC. Last Sunday for example no way was Leano #1 really, she was #6 or perhaps #7 on iTunes with a whole load of new one ahead of her.
January 17, 200718 yr No I hate them tbh. But if we didn't have them we'd all have to listen to JK & Joel
January 17, 200718 yr Well I first viewed CC to find out Fading Like A Flower's midweek! But I couldn't care less about the charts now tbh. -_- It's nice to see the top 75 every Sunday but I'm not bothered anymore.
January 17, 200718 yr I lived without them until I had internet in 2005 :P It used to be so good - everyone at school was really into the charts and everyoen discussed what would be #1 - I remember when Blazin Squad got to #1 in 2002 - all the chavs were playing it in glee  Then more people started downloading and didnt give a $h!t anymore. I wouldn't miss them - theyre just something to read every week I guess - I only really am desperate for them when one of my favourite acts has a song out.
January 17, 200718 yr Its much harder to predict now downloads play such a HUGE part. Before it was obv indie acts would tail off at the end of the week and chavs would push the dance and RNB stuff higher with their saturday purchases - now people can download a song anytime they like, any day of the week and it just skews everything up - you never know what to expect - makes it better tbh.
January 17, 200718 yr I LOVE THE MIDWEEKS although sometimes they change so much when the chart comes around i still enjoy reading whats going on
January 17, 200718 yr It's the whole reason why I come here in the first place so I'd definitely miss them, it's make it very difficult to predict beforehand, yes but I don't think in the end it's going to be very different throughtout the week or anything.
January 17, 200718 yr I like to see how my favourite artists/favourite tracks are progressing throughout the week, do yes, they are to me.
January 17, 200718 yr I'd really miss them. I look forward to seeing what's happening. It doesn't take away from the charts, just good to see how they alter through the week.
January 17, 200718 yr Since the new changes were added, i haven't looked at the midweeks and waited until sunday. It's much better when you have the element of surprise where you didn't have that with the midweeks. Very tempting to look though.
