Posted April 22Apr 22 Trying to post some different kinds of threads.Who are your favourite trans queens? Why do you like them? Did you learn anything about trans people or the trans experience from Drag Race?
April 22Apr 22 Obviously the iconic Sasha Colby, such a trailblazer and the absolute best representation the community could wish for, one of the strongest and most dominant competitors the show has ever seen. I was lucky enough to meet her last year and she was just so warm and bright and welcoming. For other bigger name US queens, I absolutely love Aja and will always maintain she should have won AS3, Gottmik is one of the ultimate fashion queens for me and I will always have a soft spot for Eureka especially seeing her growth as a person over all the seasons that she competed on.Have to also highlight Dakota Schiffer, met her a couple of times and she is absolutely lush, I was just chatting away to her like I was meeting up with a close friend and she has the most stupid chronically online sense of humour which I love, and drag wise I love that she is so attuned with specific periods of fashion and has such a sharp mind for that kind of look. And some more underrated or international queens who deserve a shout out:Melissa Bianchini (honestly the day she gets on GAS, the rest of the cast should be TERRIFIED)Jazell Barbie Royale (surely a matter of time before she gets on Drag Race and it is over for the girls when she does)Hugo Grrl (first drag king to win or even compete in a TV drag show, House Of Drag, and a trans man)Fantasia Royale Gaga (that is c**t, someone who is very much in her own lane and is at the top of her game because she knows exactly who she is)Bernie (one of the most robbed queens ever on PH2, absolute sweetheart too)Miss Jade SO (absolutely insane in the best way)Asia Consent (absolutely at the top of her game and it’s effortless, she comes across so chill and unbothered and channels all her energy into faultless drag)Angele Anang (first trans winner of any Drag Race, with SIX wins to boot)
April 22Apr 22 Author For me, Gigi Goode (although I otherwise didn't care for her) opened my eyes about gender a lot and "not feeling like one or the other" when she felt herself to be nonbinary. There were also some great discussions on that topic on season 1 of Drag Race España from, among others, Hugaceo (NB) and Arantxa (trans femme).I actually was forgetting Sasha when I made this post. Even though she's a recent winner she kinda feels like someone who won long ago.Drag Race Thailand (season 2) had the first openly trans queens I remember seeing on Drag Race; also featuring diversity because although Angele and Kandy Z were both trans they were very different. In recent seasons my favourite trans queens from their skill and their attitude are Moon (Fra2) and, if she considers herself trans, Lill (UK7). Ginny Lemon (UK2) has also grown on me quite a lot.
April 22Apr 22 There have been many trans queens over the years I have fallen in love with but Sasha Colby, Dakota Schiffer, Kylie Sonique Love, Vanessa Van Cartier, Adore Delano, Jinkx but there is too many to single out because they are so many great trans queens out there both on the show and on the local drag scenes.Shoutout to TS Madison too! A fab judge and one of my favourite atm! Need more trans men and woman to be guest judges on shows like DR and Dragula etc
