After changing for five weeks in a row – the longest such sequence since 2022/2023 – leadership of the singles chart remains in the hands of Dior, the upmarket collaboration between MK and Chrystal.

Its consumption unexpectedly declined last week, but the track now returns to growth – as does the overall singles market – adding a chunky 6.19% week-on-week to 42,157 units (947 digital downloads, 41,210 sales-equivalent streams).

Dior’s closest competitor, Manchild by Sabrina Carpenter, remains at No.2 but decreases consumption for the fifth straight week, falling 4.79% week-on-week to 36,633 units. The gap between the two, which was just 3.18% last week, thus increases to 15.08%.

Justin Bieber’s new album, Swag, has received a very mixed reception but almost all of its detractors had kind words for Daisies, a melodic slice of alt-pop, which duly delivers Bieber his first Top 10 single since 2021, debuting at No.4 (32,536 sales). Yukon (No.32, 14,384 sales) and All I Can Take (No.33, 14,185 sales) also debut for the Canadian, while a further seven tracks from Swag are ‘starred-out’. Bieber has now had 79 Top 75 entries, 59 top 40 entries and 28 Top 10 hits.

A fortnight after they simultaneously made their chart debuts, the three songs from the soundtrack to Netflix animated fantasy film Kpop Demon Hunters on the list continue to power ahead. Golden jumps 20-9 (24,275 sales) for Huntr/X, Ejae, Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami & KPop Demon Hunters Cast, while the same artists’ How It’s Done moves 32-29 (15,899 sales) and Your Idol advances 26-23 (18,747 sales) for Saja Boys, Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, samUIL Lee & KPop Demon Hunters Cast. Four more songs from the soundtrack remain ‘starred-out’ of the Top 75.

Olivia Dean’s Sam Fender collaboration, Rein Me In, reverses out of the Top 10 for the second time (10-12, 24,026 sales), only to be replaced by her first Top 10 solo hit, Nice To Each Other (14-10, 24,232 sales). She also lands her sixth hit with Lady Lady (No.55, 8,344 sales) and falls 63-64 (7,734 sales) with Dive.

Undoubtedly helped by the ACR-affected declines of Ravyn Lenae’s Love Me Not (3-22, 18,841 sales) and Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club (5-30, 15,886 sales), two previously reticent tracks by superstar artists reach new highs. Marching 6-3 (32,887 sales) on its 10th week in the Top 10, Blessings becomes the 21st Top 3 hit for Calvin Harris but the first for featured vocalist Clementine Douglas, while Sapphire – No.9 for four of its five weeks in the chart to this point – shines more brightly for Ed Sheeran, jumping four places to No.5 (30,159 sales). Sapphire also logs its third (non-consecutive) week atop the digital downloads chart, where Sheeran has had 16 No.1 songs, and has spent 53 weeks at the summit.

Pink Pony Club’s decline ends its 22 consecutive weeks residency in the Top 5, the second longest in chart history behind Frankie Laine’s I Believe, which sustained for 28 weeks in a row in 1953.

The rest of the Top 10: Victory Lap (7-6, 29,117 sales) by Fred Again, Skepta & PlaqueBoy Max, Ordinary (8-7, 27,602 sales) by Alex Warren and Survive (4-8, 26,523 sales) by Lewis Capaldi.

South Korean group Blackpink score their 10th Top 75 entry – and first since 2022 – with Jump (No.18, 20,120 sales), their comeback single released to coincide with their Deadline world tour, which reaches the UK next month.

JackBoys2 – comprising tracks primarily but not exclusively by JackBoys and Travis Scott – debuts at No.2 on the compilation chart (7,290 sales), and spins off three new hits: Scott solo vehicles Kick Out (No.66, 7,689 sales) and Dumbo (No.74, 7,224 sales) and Don Toliver collaboration Champain & Vacay (No.60, 8,118 sales). Scott has now had 49 Top 75 entries, Toliver 15.

Also new to the Top 75: Back To Me (No.52, 8,744 sales), the 24th hit for Rudimental, and the 18th for Jess Glynne, taken from the former’s upcoming album Rudim3ntal and renewing the partnership which saw the two acts reach No.1 together with These Days, alongside Macklemore and Dan Caplen, in 2018.

After falling 23-25 last week, No Broke Boys jumps to No.16 (20,276 sales) for Disco Lines & Tinashe, becoming the former’s first Top20 hit, the latter’s second.

High On Me - the first hit for London-based DJ Rossi (Ross McFarland) and the sixth for Irish singer Jazzy (Yasmine Byrne) – stalled at No.28 last week but now glides to No.19 (19,999 sales).

As Oasis’ reunion tour continues, the three songs they landed on the chart last week see little change, with Don’t Look Back In Anger improving 18-17 (20,182 sales) but Live Forever slipping 19-20 (19,332 sales) and Acquiesce dipping 17-21 (18,866 sales).

Overall singles consumption is up 2.78% week-on-week at 31,125,308 units, 8.77% above same week 2024 consumption of 28,616,078 units. Paid-for sales are up 2.43% week-on-week at 286,124, 3.13% above same week 2024 sales of 277,429.

Even Oasis in full reunion tour mode are unable to prevent the ever-revolving door at the top of the album chart from making another turn.

Their compilation, Time Flies 1994-2009, is dispatched from the summit by Wet Leg, whose second album, Moisturizer, debuts atop the list on consumption of 26,014 units (11,513 CDs, 10,156 vinyl albums, 383 cassettes, 1,468 digital downloads and 2,494 sales-equivalent streams).

Effecting the 31st change of leadership in as many weeks, it arrives three years after Wet Leg’s eponymous debut album opened at the summit on 11.37% higher consumption of 28,972 units – a tally that was undoubtedly helped by them being runners-up to PinkPantheress in the BBC’s Sound Of 2022 rankings, and the viral success of the singles Chaise Longue and Wet Dream.

Then a duo, Wet Leg have transitioned into a quintet, with erstwhile session/touring members Josh Mobaraki, Ellis Durand and Henry Holmes now billed alongside founders Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers.

The first Wet Leg album has to-date consumption of 163,732 units, while the aforementioned Chaise Longue and Wet Dream – both of which peaked at No.74 – are its most-consumed tracks, with the former on 369,720 units, and the latter 490,807.

A mixed reception greeted Justin Bieber’s surprise release, Swag, which nonetheless arrives at No.4 (14,534 sales). Thus far released only digitally, the set is Bieber’s seventh studio album, but his 10th charted album in all, and his seventh Top 10 entry. Bieber’s 2012 album Believe and 2020 set Changes both reached No.1 but his three most-consumed titles all missed the top spot. They are: 2015 fourth studio album Purpose (1,560,804 units), which reached No.2 itself but spawned No1 singles What Do You Mean, Sorry and Love Yourself; 2010 EP My World (957,039 sales) which reached No.3 after doubling in size to 18 tracks following the release of a 2.0 edition; and 2021 No.2 album, Justice (317,394 units).

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy scores his third consecutive Top 10 album and fifth straight Top 20 album with eighth studio set, No Sign Of Weakness, debuting at No.6 (9,761 sales).

Almost 18 years to the week after she released her chart-topping debut album, This Is The Life, Scottish singer/songwriter Amy Macdonald’s sixth studio set, is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?, opens at No.8 (8,687 sales). Maintaining her 100% record of making the Top 10 with all of her studio albums, the set surpasses the debut/peak position (No.10) of her last album, 2020’s The Human Demands, and – by an impressive 31.80% – its first week consumption of 6,591 units. This Is The Life remains 37-year-old Macdonald’s biggest-selling album by a huge margin, with to-date consumption of 944,036 units, more than three times as much as its runner-up, her 2010 second album, A Curious Thing (302,367), which peaked at No.4.

Barry Can’t Swim – 34-year-old electronic musician Joshua Mainnie from Edinburgh – garnered overwhelmingly positive reviews for his 2023 debut, When Will We Land, which reached No.12 and has to-date consumption of 40,182 units. His follow-up, Loner, has received similarly positive feedback, and opens its account at No.10 (8,158 sales). It has the highest consumption of a No.10 album for 189 weeks.

They are all off a place but Oasis still have three of the week’s Top 5 albums, with Time Flies: 1994-2009 (1-2, 20,637 sales), (What’s The Story) Morning Glory (2-3, 14,856 sales), and Definitely Maybe (4-5, 10,863 sales).

The rest of the Top 10: +-=÷× Tour Collection (5-7, 8,794 sales) by Ed Sheeran and 50 Years: Don’t Stop (6-9, 8,223 sales) by Fleetwood Mac.

After 46 consecutive weeks in the top five – the longest run ever for a solo album – Short ’N Sweet ends not only that run but also its Top 10 run, sliding 3-11 (7,702 sales) for Sabrina Carpenter.

Also exiting the Top 10: The Highlights (8-13, 5,650 sales) by The Weeknd, Stick Season (7-14, 4,929 sales) by Noah Kahan, Brat (10-18, 4,627 sales) by Charli XCX and Virgin (9-42, 3,042 sales) by Lorde.

American hip-hop duo Clipse failed to make the Top 75 with any of the three albums they release between 2002 and 2009 but the fraternal duo – comprising 52-year-old Malice (Gene Thornton) and 48-year-old sibling Pusha T (Terrence Thornton) – have reunited for Let God Sort ‘Em Out, which debuts at No.16 (4,790 sales). Malice’s interim solo releases didn’t make the chart here, but three albums by Pusha T did, most recently his latest solo set, It’s Almost Dry, which became his first Top 10 entry in 2022.

Also new to the Top 75: Beloved (No.38, 3,191 sales), the second studio album by American R&B singer Giveon, following his No.37 2022 release, Give Or Take; and The Lamb Stands Up: Live At The Royal Albert Hall (No.68, 2,365 sales), the 21st solo chart entry for 75-year-old singer/songwriter Steve Hackett, who was a member of Genesis from 1970 to 1977.

The soundtrack to Netflix animated fantasy film Kpop Demon Hunters spends its fourth consecutive week atop the compilation chart, with consumption climbing 16.66% week-on-week to 11,751 units (271 digital downloads and 11,480 sales-equivalent streams).

Overall album sales are up 3.33% week-on-week at 2,476,610 units, 6.11% above same week 2024 sales of 2,334,084. Physical product accounts for 251,787 sales, 10.17% of the total.

  • “Beautiful Things” back to zero decline 🫠

Alan Jones does not mention it, but surely Ordinary by Alex Warren is still the "real' number 1 if it wasn't on ACR.

Also those 3,191 zoetrope vinyls of Short n' Sweet last week would have been just enough to keep the Top 5 run going this week (beating Definitely Maybe by just 30 sales!)

Can it be helped that Beautiful Things is taking a long time to go back to ACR?

I hope the KPop compilation can decrease in sales next week or the week after the latest

Quite the dive for Sabrina after all those weeks in the top five! Just a decent week for album sales in the top ten.

Nice to see a fresh look in the singles chart too, good to see Ed get two top fives already from this era after Subtract spun off only one proper hit (and the follow up album none really). And Blessings becoming a proper high peaking hit too (and not looking as much of an issue for Now having selected it as Disc 1, Track 1 as when it had originally peaked at 7!)

perhaps a little thing beginning with C and ending with Hristmas

I hope it goes to ACR before the Christmas rush because it will get reset if it goes ACR during the Christmas rush. They even reset songs that are over the 3 year threshold if they go to ACR during the Christmas rush

I'm hoping Justin manages to nab a number one in the next couple of weeks

Justin only ~7k down on Justice, which had pre-orders, physicals and multiple formats on its side (as well as four prior established hits on it), good going!

That's actually a decent result in the end then, all things considered!

Some fantastic album sales this week - 8k got the top 10!
