Posted August 9Aug 9 Has anyone seen this? Out now. It stars Pamela Anderson, Liam Neelson as 33 year old Frank Jr... , and Priscilla Presley males a cameo.I saw it and didn't think much of it. It is obsessed with csrtoon-style violence and with the UFC... It had a few clsssic-style jokes in it, but Frank Jr now being a super soldier, with comedy violence every few minutes, was poor.
August 9Aug 9 I thought it was really funny if you just take it for what it is. Not as good as the original ones but a nice enough tribute while being a film in it's own right. Some of the jokes made me really laugh like when he told Pamela to have a seat and she said "no thanks I have plenty at home" 🤣

But him becoming a superhero and glazing the ufc... wasn't it.
August 9Aug 9 I also thought them all being the sons of the original characters was really funny, and the OJ Simpson joke made me really laugh!
August 11Aug 11 It was never going to be as good as the original trilogy (the first film is one of my favourite films ever), but to my surprise it came very close. I laughed the whole way through it, Liam Neeson does the “deadpan cop who doesn’t realise the chaos he creates around him” role very well, and does a good job of getting the tone of the original, whilst not just rehashing all the jokes from it and making it feel modern (or as modern as you can for a film that was made to spoof the type of film that hasn’t really hit cinemas for at least 40 years). If it gets a sequel I would not be disappointed, and if it leads to a revival of similar ridiculous spoof films I wouldn’t mind either (don’t think there’s been a spoof film I’ve liked since Scary Movie 4).

Thursday at 13:194 days Good to know that some reboots can still work well, I really enjoyed this, I love the original films, as well as the Airplane! movies which had a similar style and I think this did a brilliant job in replicating that style, with so many gags at once on the screen, I particularly liked Cold Cases and P.L.O.T Device as well as 'Can I ask why?'. Liam Neeson was also perfectly deadpan (he's about ten years older now than Leslie Nielsen was when he played the role!).There was some great callbacks to the original with things like the monologues and montages but they felt fresh and utterly bizarre at points which worked well, and it's nice to see a film give something for those who stick around for the credits, some great gags and nice to see Weird Al's cameo pay off.Like a lot of these reboots, I don't think it needed to exist at all, but when there is a clear love and respect for the originals as well as a clear attempt to have it's own style as well, I think it justified it.
