That's a good end to the countdown, a lot of Pink's discography have suffered from overexposure, but I still like Just Like a Pill. Heaven is one of my favourite dance covers, I can see how some could find it a bit naff, but for me the trance production and dreamy vocals really achieves in making the song soar, which Bryan Adams' original just doesn't do for me. Ironically, it was the other way round with his Boys of Summer cover so good thing this was his number 1 x

2002 is a lot better year than I gave it credit for and there's a lot of great stuff in the top 10 - some genuine classics like Lose Yourself, More Than a Woman and Freak Like Me and some I've got a nostalgic soft spot for the more cheesy ones like Kiss Kiss, Colourblind and If You're Not the One, very similar to mine overall:

  1. Eminem - Lose Yourself

  2. DJ Sammy feat. Yanou & Do - Heaven

  3. Sugababes - Freak Like Me

  4. Aaliyah - More Than a Woman

  5. Eminem - Without Me

  6. George Harrison - My Sweet Lord (I do understand how this is quite hard to rank alongside 2002 songs though, I have a similar dilemma to ponder in my year x)

  7. Sugababes - Round Round

  8. Pink - Just Like a Pill

  9. Darius - Colourblind

  10. Liberty X - Just a Little

Thanks for doing this!

  • and that's it. Thanks all for the comments and nice stories shared. It was one of the best years in music so was honoured to cover it!

  • The music video from Blazin' Squad makes me laugh. Bunch of kids standing on a unfinished flyover trying to look hard and singing a song they barely know. 😄

  • I’m going to steal this idea and start a 1995 thread in the other retro forum soon :)
