Saturday at 14:372 days Author 16. Robson Green & Jerome Flynn – I Believe4 weeks at number 1, November/December AA side with aboveThis is…… almost ok as a cover. Good job, uncredited vocalists!
Saturday at 14:542 days I knew a person, who had both (Robson and Jerome and "Wonderwall") on the top of her personal chart.
Sunday at 10:051 day The least-bad of the covers, but plus side Carole King and Gerry Goffin get a well-deserved number one with a total classic song and original version from The Drifters. I believe is less essential as it already was a UK number one song, but even I was too young to remember that though the song was still famous in the 60's.

Sunday at 16:321 day Author 15. Outhere Brothers – Don’t Stop (Wiggle Wiggle)1 week at number 1, AprilThey were a duo from Chicago which combined rap with dance. Not as well known in the USA as the UK oddly. This was everywhere before it was released and the 'wiggle wiggle' shoutback gave it the edge it needed to hit the top spot. I can’t deny that this is catchy, but I find the vocals very strained (especially on the live TOTP reruns) and the whole wiggle wiggle bit makes me feel oddly annoyed. I can see the appeal but I just don’t like it.
Sunday at 16:351 day Author 14. Cher, Chrissie Hynde, Neneh Cherry & Eric Clapton – Love Can Build A Bridge1 week at number 1, MarchFor the talent on display here for 1995’s Comic Relief single and for Neneh Cherry’s only UK number 1, my god this is DULL. What a wasted opportunity.

Both are terrible but one less terrible.I was only joking, "Unchained Melody" was a double A-Side which is what I'm referring to, but I wouldn't want you to give the other side a listen or promo of ranking it 😁Hard to argue with anything that has gone so far- all varying degrees of awful!

I never knew that!!I am going to conveniently ignore that then to avoid a R&J bottom 4 l
Sunday at 17:151 day Love Can Build a Bridge is very mid. I don't hate it but it's definitely a bit too close to charity record by numbers territory.I never liked that Outhere Brothers track, although I didn't really try to like it because my Aunt had read that it contained very inappropriate lyrics and was immediately on a quest to make sure none of the family was being subjected to it... I didn't like what I'd heard enough to rebel against that
Sunday at 18:011 day I can't argue with this order. I really didn't like Don't Stop at all.Love Can Build A Bridge is fine but, as is often the way with superstar collaborations, way less than the sum of its parts. What a naff song to be Neneh's only UK No.1.
Sunday at 20:211 day 'Don't Stop' is certainly no 'Boom Boom Boom'I can't even recall how 'Love Can Build a Bridge' goes, even though I have heard it several times.
22 hours ago22 hr Yes Don't Stop is nonsense. I don't hate it but it strays too far into novelty to bear more than one or two listens a decade. Love Can Build A Bridge was a disappointment - not a bad record as such, and well-intentioned, and great to see them all get a number one and help charities - but it's more the "what coulda been". It's just not that exciting, even for a ballad of that time. Pity.
14 hours ago14 hr Author 13. Michael Jackson – You Are Not Alone2 weeks at number 1, SeptemberWritten by R Kelly, performed by Michael Jackson. Wow, what a combination! This was the second single from HIStory and his fifth number 1.Despite how dodgy this is, what a saccharine bore fest of a song that feels like it goes on longer than Jacko’s marriage to Lisa Marie Presley.
14 hours ago14 hr Author 12. Simply Red – Fairground4 weeks at number 1, September/October I don’t mind Simply Red, in fact I have the album Stars on vinyl. Although this is their only number 1 and they had much more deserving songs. But this, I just cant get into. I think it’s the quiet bits in the verses followed by A LOAD OF SHOUTING in the chorus. That and it kept Pulp’s Mis-Shapes/Sorted For E’s and Wizz off the top spot. Grrr.
14 hours ago14 hr Author 11. Outhere Brothers – Boom Boom Boom4 weeks at number 1 July/AugustI almost like this, the slightly better follow up to the annoying Wiggle wiggle thing (although the wiggle wiggle was replaced by an Wayyy Ohh). There was a clean and dirty version of this song, you can imagine which one was popular in clubs!Catchy and certainly on the verge of irritating, this kept the wonderful Alright by Supergrass off the top spot. I cannot forgive this travesty!
