Oh we're at the point that songs I LOVE are going cry Have to admit that it took the TikTok popularity for me to really get into The Cut That Always Bleeds but once it clicked, it clicked in a major way.

I'll never get why the Conan fanbase at large has issues with Found Heaven. Take the bops you are given, you cows! (xx) Lonely Dancers is definitely one of the highlights from that album.

Given there's a lot of meat to the bones of Kid Krow it's hardly surprising its singles take up a chunk of the results, I'm just surprised that some of them are falling out as soon as this. Heather's one I would've predicted to be a fair bit higher (but then again of the five voters I dragged its average down). Another single that benefitted from popularity on TikTok, it was the sixth and final single to be released from the debut album and it's another where Conan is truly at his most vulnerable because it's one where it unravels your innermost thoughts. Conan's also said that Heather was almost not included on the album out of fear that nobody would or could relate to the lyrics. Admitting that you hate someone so much - no matter how lovely and kind a person they may be - because the person they're with is in love with them and not you is bold, and it's certainly something Conan conveyed so beautifully at an early point in his career.

And now the snowball continues for Found Heaven's singles as Winner is next, continuing with the really stark switch-up in sound for this era. It's completely different to Lonely Dancers but the eclectic sounds of the Found Heaven era do come together and make a wonderfully cohesive body of work. The second single from the album, Winner feels like a standalone moment where Conan's vocals really shine above everything else, and there are even comparisons among the fanbase to Family Line. What this song does really well (and with some of the visuals presented too, despite no official music video) is encapsulate the feeling of freedom and light at the end of the tunnel after realising you've been hurt by somebody; managing to move on from that hurt and pain and finding your path forward.

Fairly sure only between us BuzzJack voters could Heather land as low as 16th lol Oddly I wasn't all that into Heather during the time of its biggest popularity, but in the years since it has grown on me. Great to see Winner in the Top 15, love how triumphant it is lyrically and in how it sounds.

Heather this low feels wrong but also not surprising as it's never been hugely popular on Buzzjack...! I see why it's connected so well, it has such a great concept and is lyrically memorable too.

Alley Rose

Average score: 8.8

Highest scorer: 10.0 (Calum)

Lowest scorer: 08.0 (Josh!, JosephBoone)

The snowball continues for Found Heaven as we lose two singles from the album in one go here; Never Ending Song and Alley Rose. It's quite interesting that all of the singles from that era have ended up mid-table (no spoilers where Killing Me finishes here though!) when they certainly have elements of grandiose about them compared to other singles in his discography. That said, first up is Never Ending Song, the lead single from Found Heaven and our first taste of what was to come from this bold, new era. Conan describes this song as a story about a relationship that just goes on and on, painfully and tumultuously, no matter how many times you try to end it or move on as well as the feeling of maybe secretly not actually wanting it to end and being drawn back in no matter how bad things may be. One thing I always find interesting is a quote from Conan where he says that he likes to disguise his sadness inside upbeat music, and it's true that all of his more up-beat songs tend to carry some of the deepest and darkest messages lyrically.

One thing I was thinking to myself going back and looking at the visuals for the Found Heaven era (particularly the music videos) is that none of them would seem out of place being used as the soundtrack to a season of Stranger Things, or inserting Conan into that world for the music videos and drawing parallels. But anyway, Alley Rose... initially when Found Heaven was released I found myself a bit indifferent to it; another ballad (albeit great) more in line with Kid Krow and Superache. But as time's passed this has slowly become one of my favourite songs by Conan, and probably among the top offerings on Found Heaven. It's Conan's favourite from the album too, and was the final song to be written for Found Heaven. The song was originally called Abbey Road too - from visiting London - but was changed to Alley Rose alluding to his first kiss being in an alley. It was after visiting London that he was dumped over text by his partner at the time while on the plane back home. Conan really can't catch a break, but when he pours his anger, frustration, whole heart and soul into lyrics like this and makes a song like Alley Rose it turns into something magnificent that he can share with the world.

I'm judging that 7.5, Calum x

Two corkers cheeseblockI think I'm overdue a full Found Heaven listen.

Lowest scorer: 08.0 (Josh!)

Killing Me

Average score: 8.9

Highest scorer: 10.0 (HarryGarfield)

Lowest scorer: 08.0 (Josh!)

Now for the final two results before we hit the top 10 and we lose one single from Superache as well as the last remaining single from Found Heaven. Memories is such a beautiful song, and in a way encapsulates everything about the Superache era so perfectly all on its own. And funnily enough, this song gives me another reason to dislike Olivia Rodrigo because apparently the first time Conan played this for her - one of his best friends - she turned around and told him 'I just think you've got better songs'. Thank god she had no input on shaping the final track list. Memories tells a story of someone turning up again out of the blue when you've moved them to the back of your mind and they've become a memory and in that moment you just can't escape it. I've said it a lot in these commentaries (but it speaks volumes about how in-sync with his own and other generations Conan is when describing love, loss, heartbreak and all of the turbulence in between) but this is something I'm sure a lot of us can relate to.

The lack of visuals for all of the singles in the Found Heaven era is certainly interesting given aesthetically it's likely his boldest and most striking era, so unfortunately we don't have a music video for Killing Me. However, the music does all of the talking in this case and it breaks away a little from the more typical storytelling. This song supposedly came about after Conan kissed a then-partner who gave him the flu that resulted in an infection, and Conan then had to undergo surgery to have his tonsils removed after six months of being ill. The relationship did end (shock!). It's interesting the kind of situations that can plant these little seeds of gold in Conan's head that end up becoming singles like this. Long may it continue, because having had time to digest Wishbone now too it seems Conan is on such a creative high round the clock, as he has been since he started out with Sunset Season.

Both of those are epic in different ways! Memories is one of his most emotive ballads, and Killing Me is such a banger.

Wish You Were Sober

Average score: 8.9

Highest scorer: 10.0 (HarryGarfield, JosephBoone)

Lowest scorer: 06.5 (Josh!)

Surprisingly - but maybe less so given the recency factor at play with Wishbone - Caramel is only the first of the singles from the Wishbone era to fall as we enter the top 10. Released as the third single from the album, one that came from nowhere only a year after Found Heaven, Caramel is Conan telling the story of being at peace having broken up with somebody but still missing them, wanting to call them, wanting to meet up with them when they're near. But you can't. It describes the very un-linear nature of relationships ending and the mental turmoil that comes with it; you can acknowledge that somebody meant so much to you and that you loved them dearly while processing everything else. It's a really beautiful single and another where Conan's vocals really shine but I don't think the top 10 of his singles discography is where this belongs.

At #9 we have the penultimate entry from Conan's debut album Kid Krow: Wish You Were Sober. Released as the fifth single from the album in March 2020, this song talks more specifically about certain incidents of Conan's love interest confessing their love for him only while drunk. Again, probably a situation a few of us have been in and that one person always holds back how they truly feel about you and declines to fully open up unless they can hardly move or speak, intoxicated. Among all the teenage angst - and the fact that several other songs on Kid Krow are about this same person - you can feel the heartbreak and devastation at wishing somebody could tell you all of this... while they're sober, and it's also one of the most straightforward, flat-out pop songs on the album that despite its content feels uplifting and a reprieve from more powerful down-tempo, emotive moments.

Lowest scorer: 07.5 (Calum)

7

Telepath

Average score: 9.1

Highest scorer: 11.0 (JosephBoone)

Lowest scorer: 07.0 (Calum)

The top eight sees us enter the zone of all songs scoring an average of 9.0 or above. I assume had there been more interest in the rate beyond the fan club we'd probably see slightly lower averages for most of the songs, but for eight to achieve 9 or above is quite a testament to the strength of Conan's singles discography. In eighth place we have Disaster, from his sophomore album Superache and released in June 2022. Journalling all of the thoughts that come along with the potential for disaster in a relationship, whether it's what you say or what you do, this song really captures a lot of the thoughts that race through your mind trying to prevent disaster from happening, or at least acknowledging it head on and hoping for the best. Despite being an enjoyable, funky, up-tempo song from Conan, I must say I'm a little surprised to see it this high.

Step back in time eight months to October 2021 and Conan released Telepath, a single that was originally titled 'ur just so predictable' (Telepath absolutely feels the wiser choice). An outlier in Conan's singles discography (and a rare one at that), Telepath originally wasn't included on the track list for Superache, however was later added to the Japanese CD edition so at least in some sense we know that it has a home on Superache. Taking on the role of the titular telepath being able to predict the moves of an ex-partner following a break-up, this song follows a very similar narrative to some other songs by Conan, but still manages to carve its own unique identity and stands out in a big way.

Actor

Average score: 9.3

Highest scorer: 10.0 (Calum)

Lowest scorer: 09.0 (HarryGarfield, -Jay-, JosephBoone)

Finishing right next to its outlier companion, Overdrive is in sixth place. Overdrive was initially supposed to herald the beginning of the Superache era when it was released in February 2021, however it didn't end up making it onto the album and was instead - like Telepath - only included on the Japanese CD edition as a bonus track. With 80s-inspired synth pop production and one of Conan's biggest bangers to date, Overdrive definitely deserves its spot in the top 10 (narrowly missing out on the top 5 is a crying shame!). In July 2020 the demo of the song leaked - supposedly accidentally and never discovered how - and you can still listen to it now if you search for it, albeit paling in comparison to the finished product. Overdrive's lyrics depict the rush, and maybe danger, of going full speed ahead with romantic feelings, letting them take over and trusting the high you feel in those moments and, much like those feelings, you can't help get caught up in the highs and adrenaline rush of this song.

We're still no closer to Wishbone losing all of its singles as we head into the top 5 with Actor being the next single to drop out (leaving This Song and Vodka Cranberry still in the running). The only album not represented in the top 5 is Found Heaven (sigh), as well as debut EP Sunset Season but that was to be expected. Personally, Actor quickly became my favourite song by a mile from Wishbone, so to see it finish so high here is incredible. Such a beautiful song and one that I feel is probably Conan's most honest and raw to date in terms of actually being in prime position and tackling somebody to the ground so directly. There's been a lot of speculation among fans since Wishbone's release that some of the songs could be about certain high-profile names that you'll definitely have heard of, but when you put the crazy fan theories to the side you can't help falling in love with Conan's storytelling once more with this song (and the rest of the trilogy accompanied by brilliant music videos).

I wouldn't have Caramel in the top 10 myself, as nice as it is! Surprised Actor's so high but it's a great track.

Overdrive and Telepath being so high is JUSTICE for them being left off the main Superache album.

He really shouldn't have done Overdrive and Telepath dirty like that, they are both incredible bops cheeseblock Happy to own the Japanese CD of it, the superior track list x

Wow, Actor as high as 5th! It is great though. I'm still not tiring of the Wishbone album, I keep going back to it.

This Song

Average score: 9.6

Highest scorer: 11.0 (HarryGarfield)

Lowest scorer: 08.5 (Calum)

Only fourth place being revealed here because... we have a tie for second place where two songs have received exactly the same average and exactly the same scores across the board. o And just missing out on a podium finish is This Song, our first taste of the Wishbone era and the music videos trilogy that saw Conan and Corey Fogelmanis tell the two boys' story so beautifully. Again, there's been a lot of speculation about who This Song (and Vodka Cranberry) is about but no official confirmation from Conan himself, so fan theories are wild and many assume that it also links back to the Found Heaven era and who Alley Rose is about. Released in May this year, the lead single from the album talks about unspoken love for somebody and hoping that those feelings are reciprocated as well as touching on queer love too; something that becomes more obviously prevalent than on any other album of Conan's to date. Such a beautiful song and it's wild to think that Conan wrote all of these in secret and went to the label like 'BAM!' ready to slap us all in the face with some of his most stunning work.

Caramel ans Wish You Were Sober back to back in the top 10, two of my faves wub

Yay for This Song top 4, its such a beautiful song wub
