HUNTR/X’s ‘Golden’ Is No. 1 on Hot 100 for Eighth Week, Tate McRae’s ‘Tit for Tat’ Debuts at No. 3

By Gary Trust | 10/6/2025

HUNTR/X’s “Golden,” from Netflix’s record-hauling animated film KPop Demon Hunters, tops the Billboard Hot 100 for an eighth week.

The anthem by the singing trio of EJAE, Audrey Nuna and REI AMI, in the roles of KPop Demon Hunters characters Rumi, Mira and Zoey, ties for the eighth-longest command for a song from a movie over the Hot 100’s 67-year history. It’s also now the sole second-longest-leading hit ever by an all-women group.

Previously, “Golden,” which first ruled the Hot 100 in August, made HUNTR/X the first female group associated with Korean pop to reign. The song is additionally the sole longest-leading hit by an animated group in the chart’s archives, while KPop Demon Hunters became the first soundtrack to generate four simultaneous Hot 100 top 10s.

For a second week, the song crowns the Hot 100 while the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack is No. 1 onthe Billboard 200. They previously doubled up atop the Sept. 20-dated charts.

Elsewhere, Tate McRae’s new single, “Tit for Tat,” launches at No. 3 on the Hot 100, becoming her third top 10.

“Golden,” on Visva/Republic Records, tallied 32.3 million official streams (down 4% week-over-week), 38.3 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 13%) and 6,000 sold (down 13%) in the United States Sept. 26-Oct. 2.

The track tallies an 11th week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart; ascends 9-8 on Radio Songs; and rises 2-1 for a third week atop Digital Song Sales.

With an eighth week pacing the Hot 100, “Golden” ties as the eighth-longest-ruling hit from a movie all-time, dating to the chart’s Aug. 4, 1958, start.

Here’s a look at the longest-leading movie songs in the Hot 100’s history (as defined by qualifications used for Billboard’s Top 75 Movie Songs of All Time recap, which is based on weekly performance on the chart):

14 weeks at No. 1, “I Will Always Love You,” Whitney Houston, from The Bodyguard, beginning Nov. 28, 1992

13, “End of the Road,” Boyz II Men, Boomerang, Aug. 15, 1992

12, “See You Again,” Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth, Fast & Furious 7, April 25, 2015

12, “Lose Yourself,” Eminem, 8 Mile, Nov. 9, 2002

11, “Independent Women Part I,” Destiny’s Child, Charlie’s Angels, Nov. 18, 2000

10, “Happy,” Pharrell Williams, Despicable Me 2, March 8, 2014

9, “Endless Love,” Diana Ross & Lionel Richie, Endless Love, Aug. 15, 1981

8, “Golden,” HUNTR/X: EJAE, Audrey Nuna & REI AMI, KPop Demon Hunters, Aug. 16, 2025

8, “Night Fever,” Bee Gees, Saturday Night Fever, March 18, 1978

7, “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” UB40, Sliver, July 24, 1993

7, “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You,” Bryan Adams, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, July 27, 1991

Plus, “Golden” surpasses TLC’s “Waterfalls” to become the sole second-longest-leading Hot 100 hit by an all-female group (of three or more members). It now goes chasing only Destiny’s Child’s “Independent Women Part I” (11 weeks, 2000-01).

Here’s a recap of the 10 longest-ruling songs in the category:

11 weeks at No. 1, Destiny’s Child, “Independent Women Part I,” beginning Nov. 18, 2000

8, HUNTR/X: EJAE, Audrey Nuna & REI AMI, “Golden,” Aug. 16, 2025

7, TLC, “Waterfalls,” beginning July 8, 1995

5, The Emotions, “Best of My Love,” beginning Aug. 20, 1977

4, TLC, “No Scrubs,” beginning April 10, 1999

4, Spice Girls, “Wannabe,” beginning Feb. 22, 1997

4, TLC, “Creep,” beginning Jan. 28, 1995

4, Bangles, “Walk Like an Egyptian,” beginning Dec. 20, 1986

4, The Supremes, “Baby Love,” beginning Oct. 31, 1964

4, The Chiffons, “He’s So Fine,” beginning March 30, 1963

Tate McRae’s new stand-alone single, “Tit for Tat,” bounds onto the Hot 100 at No. 3. In its first week, following its Sept. 26 release, the song totaled 19.7 million streams, 53,000 airplay impressions and 2,000 sold (boosted by buzz that the song may be about her ex, The Kid LAROI).

McRae adds her third Hot 100 top 10, with her second adjacent: Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want,” featuring McRae, holds at No. 4, after it led in its first week in May. (It adds a milestone 20th week atop the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart.) McRae matches her best Hot 100 rank as a lead artist — “Greedy” hit No. 3 in January 2024. With “Tit for Tat,” she claims both her highest Hot 100 debut and top weekly streaming count in a lead role.

Notably, “Revolving Door” remains McRae’s current promoted radio single; it keeps at its No. 9 best on the Pop Airplay chart. The song, which debuted at its No. 22 Hot 100 peak in March and rises 52-45 on the current list, is from her latest album, So Close to What, which that month blasted in as her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” holds at No. 2 on the Hot 100, after 10 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning in June. It posts a 16th week at No. 1 on Radio Songs (up 2% to 76.8 million in audience — a new weekly best), tying for the fifth-longest reign in the chart’s 35-year history.

Justin Bieber’s No. 2-peaking “Daisies” climbs 8-5 on the Hot 100.

Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which topped the Hot 100 for a week in March 2024, and went on to become last year’s No. 1 song, rises 7-6. It logs a record-extending 111th week on the chart overall and a record-padding 80th week in the top 10.

Also from KPop Demon Hunters, Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” slips to No. 7 from its No. 3 Hot 100 high and their “Your Idol” falls 5-10, after reaching No. 4. (Both are sung by Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo and samUIL Lee.)

Additionally in the Hot 100’s top 10, Morgan Wallen’s “I Got Better” rises 11-8, after reaching No. 7, and Ravyn Lenae’s “Love Me Not” holds at No. 9, after hitting No. 5.

Olivia so close to top 10! Hopefully she can still make it once Taylor fever calms down. Glad to see Nice To Each Other and So Easy sneaking in. Was probably the last opportunity for NTEO.

RAYE needs to keep climbing and Teddy Swims needs to go.

HOT 100 7.10.25 #53

THE TOP TEN:

10. Your Idol – Saja Boys (Down 5/15 weeks in chart)
9. Love Me Not – Ravyn Lenae (No change/27 weeks in chart)
8. I Got Better - Morgan Wallen (Up 3/20 weeks in the chart)

5. Daisies – Justin Bieber (Up 3/12 weeks in chart)
4. What I Want - Morgan Wallen/Tate McRae (No change/20 weeks in chart)
3. Tit For Tat - Tate McRae (NEW)
2. Ordinary - Alex Warren (No change/34 weeks in chart)
1. Golden – Huntr/X/Ejae/Audrey Nuna/Rei Ami (No change/8 weeks No. 1/15 weeks in chart)

NEW ENTRIES:

100. What An Awesome God – Phil Wickham (5/10)

How amazing, more artificial Christian pop for the industry, something we definitely didn't have before! You know, I'm loving Phil's passion for Jesus and how much he's devoted to spreading Christianity, but my oh my, his music is something that a church choir would sing. It's as unoriginal as where he was years ago, which leads me to believe that levelling up his sound isn't a priority. If you've heard high-pitched male voices and generic piano music, then you've heard this – so predictable!

99. Take Me Thru Dere – Metro Boomin/Quavo/Breskii/YK NIECE (7/10)

I mean, after seeing YK NIECE on the feature list, I had extremely low expectations, but surprisingly this was actually not that bad. YK's part was easily the worst, as she sounded like Sexyy Red, but on the other hand, there was some fine rapping, and the beat had a nice bounce; it sounded like a more inspired version of rap's traditional clap beat that's often used. I see the producer did some work on this!

98. So Easy (To Fall In Love) - Olivia Dean (8/10)

This song more so resembles the layout of a Laufey song rather than her mall pop style "Man I Need"; it keeps up the feeling of naturalness we get from Olivia's music, with every instrument playing a clear part in the song. This one was actually the best I've heard from the album so far! I'll listen in full to the album later.

97. Nice To Each Other - Olivia Dean (7.2/10)

Smooth and easy-to-hear pop-soul that sounds like something on her debut album. A pleasant listen, but she's not doing anything new.

90. Where Is My Husband! - RAYE (8/10)

I was waiting for that moment where RAYE would drop her next song that sounds like it could be a big hit, and this was that. She heads back to her upbeat jazz roots, and all the chaos and blasted loud instruments are at their fullest pop-radio core feel. Firstly teased at Glastonbury and now on the streaming apps too, this is the funky switched jazz jam we needed.

86. The Fall - Cody Johnson (5.9/10)

Aside from the part where he switched up the tone into the deeper hook with a passionate guitar, I think the rest sounds like all the other country music that you can hear anywhere; it's a skip.

69. Ninja – Young Thug (3/10)

This song is the opener to Young Thug's recent 4th album, "UY SCUTI". And honestly… this is so bad that it's memeable. The nearly 4-minute track opens with a minute and a half clip from the time when Thug went to court. It's not only a bad start to the song, but it's also a bad start to the album. After he finally starts rapping, he sounds all over the place, as if he desperately needs to go to the bathroom while rapping, when in reality it's just his $1 production studio. After that, he then repeats the n-word multiple times, which is appropriate to bring up, as it's being memed across social media and in general for how he says it. He just raps the n-word with nothing else said multiple times before going into this long paragraph-length rap where every sentence is ended with the n-word. This is seriously some fine art, Thug. 3/10.

56. Gorgeous – Doja Cat (8.2/10)

I quite like this as a luxury and refined pop follow-up too. "Jealous Type", the cut scene in the middle, definitely wasn't a good choice, especially for a song that you're trying to advertise as the next single. But despite that, we still have minutes' worth of a song that feels like a mix of bad bitch energy and a song to lie on the beach to. That being said, I don't think this has big radio potential.

55. Dracula – Tame Impala (7.2/10)

Previous listen:

These singles are really just getting better and better! I like when Tame leans into a catchy little quick bop rather than 7-minute songs. It suits them.

Second listen: [-0.3/10 in score]

A nu-disco synth-funk song that doesn't exactly tick any specific decade's sound, but instead what it does tick is the box of enjoyment.

3. Tit For Tat - Tate McRae (8/10)

You know what this reminds me of a little? 2023 pop: Doja Cat! Where the production is the most different from any Tate song, as much as I don't think this is the best way to open a possible new era, I definitely see this being a single. I think the synths bring this dreamy, floating feel that feels very bright, like something you'd hear at a shiny disco; it has its equal touch of grace but with a very danceable tone. I love it!

Incredible that this is still promoted. Its the longest staying Bellie track now I believe.

13 10 01 59 Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars ‒ Die With A Smile

15 14 02 88 Benson Boone ‒ Beautiful Things

I didn't realize Tate was going to debut anywhere near top 3! Right now it kinda looks out of place considering most of her other singles missed the top 10, but a very impressive first week. I hope Tit For Tat will be one of Tate's long-running hits, it's going to drop at least 12 next week but so is everything else lol.
