Holler is one of their most loved songs by the fans (FACT!) and while it got to #1 in the UK, it is still somewhat of an underdog hit in their discography... It always goes down live really well, and it has played a major role in each of the three tours that it was performed at.

It was originally premiered in the iconic Christmas in Spiceworld Tour in 1999, where they showcased three songs from what they were working on towards a third album at the time. From those, only Holler made it to the album in its original form. It was clearly one they loved and the reactions seemed to be that this was the front-runner out of the three to lead the album.

Then, in the Return Tour, it marked a shift in the concert, where it played after Viva Forever right after Geri left the stage and the iconic 4-piece got to be in full display in the show, advancing the narrative of the concert to showcase their career highs and lows. The background graphics were excellent, portraying a group of girls fighting which highlighted what the group's dynamics were like during its original release. It was the main showcase of the Forever era during this time and saw them performing quite provocatively with leather-clad choreography and male dancers - another shift in the Spice Girls overall presentation.

Finally they performed it again in 2019 in a 1-Act segment which started with a dance breakdown. Again, leather and black where the main attire but they introduced three new elements: a brand new mix by Lostboy which also added a fierce new dance breakdown (thus finally removing the annoying 'darkchild' male voice') and elements of the Military Candance from the Spiceworld movie, new choreography moments (where the Mels absolutely shined!) and the addition of Geri Halliwell to the performance for the very first time (a long-wished for moment by the fandom!). To this fans, fans still clamour for this version to be released!).

You can only pick ONE! Which one is the best and why?

All three are really good, honestly. Holler is a major highlight of all three of those tours.

Technically, I think their best live performance of it is the Christmas in SpiceWorld tour. I think they sound their best here, and their energy is really good too. There really is no indication from this performance (or the rest of the show, really) that the group would be in near-shambles a few months later. There's a real spark to this, and it's my favorite choreography of the song they did.

In terms of ideas and staging...I prefer the Return of the Spice Girls tour. The comic book theme's great. Walking the guys down the catwalk was great. There are so many little parts to it. The only minor bummer for me is I think the 1999/2000 choreography is better.

In terms of musical arrangement...I go with the 2019 tour. It punches. I love the HOLLER spinning around the ring. I love the dance-off between the Mels. Nearly everything about it is epic. The only thing I don't like...is Emma and Geri drinking tea during the dance battle. I know. It's just a joke. But the other two went to the effort of doing intense choreography. I'd prefer Emma and Geri not doing something distracting in that moment...and just standing in the middle doing superhero poses. But. Eh. The performance is still great.

For me, the divide between the three is razor thin. But I'll go 2019.

My favourite is also the 2019, purely on the espetacle of it and how 'updated' and current it all felt. I would have loved that 1-Act piece to be extended into Step To Me which I think would have worked so well, but overall the performance was almost perfect then. The arrangement, the stage design, the vocals - all perfect in my opinion. The only gripe was Geri + Emma doing the tea section bit, which just looked naff and stupid while the Mels were really giving with the choreo.

I think the Return one was fun and well done from a technical point but they don't really sound good in those performances and you can tell they were all mostly uncomfortable with it, which is my main issue there. Plus, I think Victoria sounds awful in this particular part of the tour, sadly... it was probably her most iconic moment in a Spice Girls song and she was always off-tune and sounded weak...

The 1999 one is a curiosity because it was so 'new' and fresh. I don't particularly like the choreography, I would have rather they were a bit more loose throughout, and I hate the costumes lol Again, they don't sound particularly good in it, although I like that the song is more pop-driven here than the original record. Still, it's a great performance. Sadly, Victoria murders her ad libs here as well, which is just sad...

I enjoy all three, but there's an extra something about the 2019 version that just hits... it was soooo epic to experience that one at the stadiums. Agree that it felt fresh, even 6 years on it still feels that way to me. The Mels were on fire in this performance!
