I’ve heard through the grapevine that Kylie is marginally ahead of Wham! on streaming alone.

I’ve projected her at 42k+ this week - and Mariah will be less than that. Wham! will be maybe 46-47k?

But this doesn’t take into consideration any boost Kylie gets from all of today’s publicity.

And we also know that Kylie’s team suddenly found an additional 7k at the end of last week.

So if anyone can do it, Kylie and her team can.

If it’s a Kylie/Wham! top 2 I’ll be delighted either way.

You're forgetting Amazon report the streaming data early so a full big day of streaming across Spotify / Apple needs to be added. She's probably only 1-2k ahead overall If that.

It just comes down to the fans multi-buying additional downloads (If they release mixes etc - I'm not even convinced they're allowed it probably depends on the contract with Amazon)

There's a very slim chance she could do it but if she doesn't actively fight on her own socials / Email mail outs etc then she won't do it - I just hope her team realise how behind she is in reality if she was 15k ahead I'd be way more optimistic.

You'd think Kylie and her Team would fight tooth and nail for it it's literally her only chance of a number 1 single again let alone having a Christmas number 1.

If I was them I would -

Release 5 new mixes tomorrow (On Her own store & Amazon)

Reduce the CD on Amazon to £1.99 / 2.99 as a 'Limited Time Deal' and take the hit on it (Sam Ryders was £2.99/£3.99)

That might entice casuals as the diehards like myself will have the physicals bought by now.

They need to get moving with:

Pressing the CD single in different coloured sleeves like they did for the Tension CD singles.

Extended version mp3 with the intro from the Capitol show (not bundled into a digital EP)

Instrumental version mp3 (not bundled into a digital EP)

MP4 video download.

Alternate edit MP4 video download.

Only 3 physical copies count so they won't do anymore physicals.

There's now an Extended and Instrumental on Amazon for download which I'm guessing will be added to her store today too!

I am not forgetting that Amazon reports a day early - I just didn’t think it needed mentioning. My projections for the week are based on that.

This is how I calculated: I found out how many of Kylie’s sales were from streams, and split those into estimates for Friday and Saturday. I then assumed that weekdays would be like Friday, and Sunday would be like Saturday. Then I added the current pure sales on. This would give an underestimate for many reasons, for example, it didn’t include any further pure sales, or any impetus from Strictly of The First Look Chart.

For Wham! I compared with this time last week and scaled up accordingly. I don’t have first look data for Wham! for last year as that would’ve given a better comparison - but my estimate seems not too far off as they are down slightly from last year.

I’m sure Kylie would be more than 2k ahead if other data was added. I’m sure well over 6k of Wham!’s sales so far came from Amazon, and even with that figure - their total across all platforms to the end of Saturday would be about 2.5k behind Kylie.

How did I get the figure of 6k on Amazon?

They’d need to have 5.5k there to be ahead of Kylie in their chart: she allegedly has 11k in streaming sales so far - and Wham! are WAY ahead there - for example on Spotify they are 50% ahead of the number 6 - and if this was the same on Amazon they would have over 8k there their total across all platforms would be about 13k - so Kylie would be 4k ahead.

Of course, there may be errors in some of my calculations - but I think many people are underestimating how well Kylie is currently doing, and perhaps overestimating her physical sales.

If there were different coloured sleeves, they would count as additional formats surely, and Kylie is already at the maximum number of physical formats.

Even if you’re not a fan of Kylie nor Scamazon’s shenanigans you can’t deny it’s nice to have a battle for the Xmas #1 again.

Hope for kyile and 2nd number 1 amazon team as Ellie Goulding River was there 1st

Wow, completely missed these mids yesterday.

I always thought, and said in here when I heard Kylie was doing it, that if anybody could make the most of an Alexa boost in the Christmas race it would be Kylie’s fanbase.

Whether it’s enough to hold I don’t know - ordinarily I’d say no chance, but I also know what Kylie’s fanbase are like and they won’t let this one go easily. Regretting not betting on her now.

Christmas No.1 has eluded her apart from that Band Aid 2 feature so the fans will be hungry for her for this, but would it also open a can of worms if an Alexa boosted song finally got the Christmas No.1?

Or would people be ok with it if it had high download and physical sales too and because Kylie is a national treasure? And because it’s not like it would be depriving a song that hasn’t been there before anyway (unless people get much further behind the Palestine single, which is probably unlikely to get higher at this stage).

Ahhh ok sorry I didn't mean to come across as rude I didn't realise you had included that fact in your estimatations. That's looking good then hopefully if the fans rally round and Strictly gives her a bit of boost in physicals

If any fanbase is going to get their artist to #1 this week it'll be the Kylie fanbase. :)

The Great thing is although lower streams Kylie will still be racking up those Amazon streams so downloads / Physicals if multi purchased / downloaded should help keep her ahead if the fanbase really rally round and go for it. I think it's going to be so close and it massively depends on whether Kylie / Her team actively promote the downloads and send an email to fans saying how it close it is.

Purchased both, let's try and breathe some life back into the Christmas No.1 race.

Definitely! Finally we have a somewhat exciting race!

Why are people acting like 2022 wasn't 3 years ago like yes the ladbaby song was shit but the battle was interesting

How was that interesting? He’d been number 1 numerous years before. I’d get the excitement if that was the first year but it wasn’t 😂
