Posted January 2Jan 2 In the ever relevant words of Nicki Minaj, let's do this one more time. Welcome to Castle Tenebria, the Northernmost castle in the Empire, for the third edition of Spolidifestivalen where we ask you to help choose our entry for the 181st edition of the BuzzJack Song Contest. The theme this time is 1990s album tracks with female vocalists. To open, we have the incomparable Sinead O'Connor with a song that displays her customary stark vulnerability, Scorn Not His Simplify.Secondly, we have a track taken from Catatonia's 1999 album Equally Cursed and Blessed. Couched in harp and orchestral flourishes, Bulimic Beats is windswept and transfixingFinally, we have Saint from Texas' 1999 album The Hush, which shimmers and radiates a delicate warmth. Please give them your full attention and assess them with your exquisite taste. Yours, Imperially The Spodic Empire BJSC Delegation.

Saturday at 21:044 days Gone for SInead, but not very passionate about any of these if being honest. I love that Texas album but this track isn't a highlight for me necessarily. Edited Saturday at 21:044 days by gooddelta
Saturday at 21:564 days Catatonia would be a good option. I think @matto would approve as its very Bjork sounding.

Sunday at 11:424 days I went for Catalonia as I liked the extra string section in the middle - but I’m not sure I could see any of them definitely qualifying as I they all felt like growers which tend not to do so well.If you do use one then Catatonia > Sinead > Texas for me
Sunday at 11:524 days Author Thanks. By all accounts, it's a weak selection.Strangely I loved them all at first listen way back then.
Sunday at 13:484 days Is it known here which country submitted which song, or are there any exceptions where others can see your entry and help with the selection? I thought the process was anonymous. Sorry, I’m still not completely clear on this.If it’s allowed for others to help with choosing a song, then for my first participation I’d really appreciate some guidance, as I don’t yet have a clear sense of what usually works well here. Sunday at 14:034 days It is known who submitted what song as the country name is always alongside the entry. You are okay to start a thread like this to get a feel for whether people like or dislike your ideas. Although I’d say most people just choose a track they like and send it without any consultation - but as a new country I can see the benefit in you considering seeking thoughts.

The general consensus is - send something you really like (compliant with the Veto Framework https://www.buzzjack.com/forums/topic/196914-the-4th-bjsc-veto-framework/#comment-5594323 )...and hope for the best. Sunday at 15:514 days Author That very much contravenes the the Geneva Convection of BJSC. Plus no sane individual would steal one of my potential entries. Edited Sunday at 15:524 days by Colm
