Posted Sunday at 17:394 days Y is for Yeah.Yeah! served as the lead single to Usher's 4th album Confessions in early 2004. Featuring Ludacris and Lil Jon, the latter also on production, the song became a huge hit, topping charts across the world: the song was released in the US in January and stayed at the summit for 12 weeks on the trot. Upon its mid-March UK release, the song managed to debut at #1, fighting off competition from Will Young, NERD and Nelly Furtado (sadly can't find its opening week sales ). The song has gone on to become Usher's signature hit - if not one of them - with it his most popular song on Spotify (where its 60m streams away from 2bn!). 6 weeks prior to Usher's UK chart entry, American indie-rock band LCD Soundsystem marked their first ever UK top 100 entry with a 'Yeah' of their own. The track was released on 12-inch vinyl only but was enough for it to debut at #77 on the chart. According to Pitchfork, the song "aims to sum up three decades of dance music".
