Madonna was first up, releasing her country-folk-pop Don't Tell Me as second single off her megahit album Music, scoring a #4 hit in the process. Avril Lavigne released her very own Don't Tell Me in the spring of 2004, as the lead single to her sophomore album, and also earned a top 5 hit, peaking one place lower than Madge.
