I was excited and then I saw it was Switch 2 only and my heart saddened a little. It looks amazing but I probably won't be able to part with the £400 needed to get the new console sigh

Pombon has my heart! Got time for the other two too actually! The new games look like visual feasts too - hopefully they keep this up for the actual playable content.

Hopefully lessons learned and will be a step up from Scarlet & Violet which had many little technical and graphical problems at launch (still fun though, don't be mistaken), even the Switch 2 made them feel like brand new games for me. 😁

Dunno what to think of Browt and Gecqua though, they're too similar to Rowlet and Sobble respectively. Both are in Sun & Moon and also with a tropical setting. 🤔

I love gen 9 for all its flaws, it was a step in the right direction, however I feel a lot of it was lazy. It was fun having a more open world approach, but it still mostly boxed you in given it didn’t have level scaling. A lot of fan games utilise that just fine so I can’t see how Game Freak are unable to do so. It didn’t feel like they really thought out the open world, it felt like it just happened to be that you could explore openly rather than it being a feature they actually thought about. But the story and the branching paths, the way it developed the characters to each have their own personality and goals, it felt like an adventure with friends and that’s what Pokémon should be imo, so they just need to really focus on making the open world actually open and build the game around that, and we should be flying.

I agree on the starters I really don’t like Gecqua or Browt, even using the same animal or category of animal I think is pretty lazy when it comes to the ideas they could have, but they straight up just feel like Rowlet/Sobble, it’s like a draft before they settled on the direction of those two to me. I love Pombon through, I’m getting Fairy vibes so I hope the final evo is a cunty first Fire/Fairy type. I feel like the water type could have been a mammal of some kind like a hippo or a beaver and grass could have been a reptile of some sort since we’ve not one since Snivy, and they’d feel a bit fresher.

The region is based off of the Indonesian archipelago (so Indonesia + eastern Malaysia, Brunei, maybe Timor-Leste, maybe Singapore & mainland Malaysia if they can fit it) and this will be the closest we’ll get to a region set in the Philippines 🥰🥰🥰

I love the visual changes it seems to have compared to the last main game.

Excited for sea / sky god awesomeness for the legendaries that will accompany this era too. So hyped we have a tenth generation of my favourite franchise ever and it can still capture the world like this.

The next 12 months are going to be so exciting as they reveal more content.

I’d love a cunty Poison type final evo for Gecqua, I think she has the potential!!

DJ Rotom was revealed in the Pokopia trailer. Imagine if this is finally a tease for a new type for Gen 10: sound! Praying it is so.

It has been revealed to be electric/normal - some suggesting the normal type is a placeholder for a potential new typing!

I kind of hate the idea of a sound type, it’s clunky to implement given there is already a category of moves for sound and there’s options like Alluring Voice and Bug Buzz that would detract from coverage on some Pokémon should they end up sound type just because they are noises. Then it kind of ruins Pixilate Hyper Voice Mega Gardevoir and Sylveon, i know that’s a niche so not really that big but still.

There’s a limited amount of Pokémon that make sense to be Sound type too, obviously the Whismur line is a big one and I could see Meloetta, the Jigglypuff line and Chatot but mons like Kommo-O, Primarina, Bronzong, Seismitoad and Toxtricity are already dual types that make a lot of sense and/or really work for them battle wise, I don’t like the thought of sound messing with that. I think it works for Pokémon where normal feels like a placeholder, similarly to Fairy. If you look at retconned Fairy types, it was mostly either mons where normal felt like a placeholder or it was added to monotypes. I guess we could just have a few normal types retconned and a bunch of new additions, but that leaves a lot of weird situations where a Pokémon like Primarina or Toxtricity feels like it should be three types. Idk I think there’s so much going on with types and moves 10 generations in that I’m not sure we need a new type and it would be quite clunky to implement. Also selfishly Primarina, Toxtricity and Kommo-o are some of my absolute faves and I love them as they are.

I love the new Rotom though!!
