Posted March 18Mar 18 15th March 2026It's an 80's song that peaked at 2 for Nu Shooz at 1 - as covered by Bob Sinclar and Kiesza both getting a first number one, in Bob's case well over 2 decades on from debuting. I Can't Wait is short and bangin' and catchy. Neil Sedaka hits a new peak of 4 with The Immigrant, 51 years on, and 8 with Laughter In The Rain, 52 years on. His version of Love Will Keep Us Together also hits a new peak, as does Breaking Up Is Hard To Do. David Guetta's Prayer helps continue to knock out the top 10's 20 years on while he also is helping J-Lo to a new entry at 79 on the catchy Save Me Tonight her first charter in 5 years and extending her run to 27 years since I bought her first hit single in Florida. Lykke Li meanwhile gets a first top 10 12 years after debuting.Lower down the chart, there's a wave of chart exits so I can chop the chart down to 85, and just the 4 new entries: Owen James, a sort of Dark Country/Americana vibe enters at 65 on I Don't Explain, The Pussycat Dolls unexpectedly return at 84 with Club Song 6 years after React, and 21 years on from debut Don't Cha. That leaves RAYE debuting her Nightingale Lane at 85 to compensate for her Al Green duet dropping higher up. 1 5 1 3 I CAN'T WAIT - Bob Sinclar & Kiesza 2470002 1 1 5 DON'T WANT YOUR LOVE - Ilennium & Ellie Goulding 3375003 2 1 8 APERTURE - Harry Styles 7613004 7 4 3 THE IMMIGRANT - Neil Sedaka 1520005 3 1 14 RELIQUIA - ROSALIA 10675006 14 6 5 LUCKY AGAIN - Lykke Li 1074007 19 7 3 PRAYER - David Guetta, Kiko & Olivier Giacomotto 784008 13 8 3 LAUGHTER IN THE RAIN - Neil Sedaka 973009 4 1 14 FREE LOVE - Cast 122125010 6 6 9 EMBERS - Robin Schulz featuring Izzy Bizu 26910011 8 8 5 MCARTHUR - HARDY, Morgan Wallen, Tim McGraw, Eric Church 13400012 9 5 11 BROKEN STRINGS - Alan Walker featuring Katherine O'Ryan & Isabella Melkman 50550013 49 13 5 DRIVE SAFE - Myles Smith & Niall Horan 5960014 45 14 3 RIDE - Jessie Ware 4650015 36 15 5 HOMEWRECKER - sombr 6680016 16 16 9 HAND IN MY HAND - Rob Thomas 13220017 10 1 13 TELL ME THERE'S A HEAVEN - Chris Rea 111500018 11 4 18 YOUR LAST SONG - The Lottery Winners 75390019 28 19 3 VERTIGO - AVALAN ROKSTON 4940020 21 20 11 GIVE ME SOMETHING - OneRepublic 18655021 12 1 23 LOTUS - Rose Gray 136610022 31 22 9 ALL MY LIFE - Robbie Williams 11700023 17 15 16 ESIBIZIONISTA - Annalisa 24570024 18 18 9 MORRISSEY - Robbie Williams 15870025 22 22 18 CHOOSIN' TEXAS - Ella Langley 23590026 29 26 12 OPALITE - Taylor Swift 15425027 15 5 9 TROUBLE FOLLOWS - YONAKA 32290028 23 1 15 SHAKE IT DOWN - Mud 97955029 24 6 15 HEAVY NEWS - Richard Ashcroft 38205030 35 30 3 STAY THE NIGHT - Winona Oak 4570031 48 31 5 STARLIGHT - Cannons 4280032 34 32 5 COLD SWEAT, HOT BOYS - Bright Light Bright Light featuring Ana Matronic 5500033 26 1 17 WONDERFUL WORLD BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE - Jimmy Cliff 75940034 25 10 16 BEAUTIFUL SPIRITUAL - Blue 38230035 32 1 26 SECRETS - Miley Cyrus featuring Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood 134870036 42 36 5 FEELS LIKE HEAVEN - Loreen 6490037 44 37 3 LOST - almost monday 3595038 33 13 24 HELLO - Sigala x Leigh-Anne x Jonita Gandhi 42840039 46 39 5 DIE FOR ME - ZAYN 6295040 54 40 3 BAD BLOOD - Neil Sedaka featuring Elton John 3480041 47 41 7 PINS AND NEEDLES - Callum Beattie 5950042 66 42 3 TO LOVE SOMEBODY - Holly Humberstone 2475043 41 19 9 ADDICTED TO LOVE - CHVRCHES 15550044 20 20 11 END OF BEGINNING - Djo 17805045 38 23 10 I JUST MIGHT - Bruno Mars 16220046 39 1 26 DIE WITH A SMILE - Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars 93010047 43 8 22 SAVE MY LOVE (NICKY ROMERO REMIX) - Marshmello, Ellie Goulding & AVAION 55180048 69 48 3 SLEEPLESS IN A HOTEL ROOM - Luke Combs 2330049 64 49 3 LOVE WILL KEEP US TOGETHER - Neil Sedaka 2280050 55 50 5 I DON'T UNDERSTAND - MT Jones 3880051 27 27 9 PERFECT DAY - Al Green featuring RAYE 13790052 40 18 14 CHURCH - JADE 21370053 30 16 13 DIVE INTO THE OCEAN - Alok, Zeeba & Portugal. March 19Mar 19 Hi John,that is quite a dry week regarding new entries. Still have to check Bob and Kiesza - both had great songs in the past and I rememember the New Shooz original. Bob, in particular, has a great back catalogue - I Feel For You is such a classic filter house tune. Just "Rock This Party" is absolutely abysmal.

March 22Mar 22 Hi John. Hope all is good with you. I keep meaning to buy that Bob Stanley book on 20th Century Pop but keep forgetting to. I'm back to my old shift from tomorrow (we all do alternate weeks - one week earlies, the next one lates. I've no idea why the over 50s are on one shift. And comments too: I wish I could join a gymn again, I just feel too old to be in one these days (along with regularly doing my joints, bones and muscles in), but I'm impressed they were playing Ilennium! I would find that a good reason to turn up and force myself to work on muscle recovery! Aperture is fab, esp the Brits performance, and I also found it a bit of an outlier on the album - I was hoping for a new synthy vibe but it's mostly pleasant ballads, American Girls the other highlight. I'm very late on Rein Me In, always liked it but recent awards pushed me into buying it and appreciate it a bit more. I tend to prefer Sam's Springsteenesque tracks, usually, and Olivia is perfectly nice but a bit samey in vibe/tempo, so I take longer to be persuaded. I like Bebe's 90's borrows, and Faithless are exciting to start off with, so that's a good beginning for a new song based around it. Cheers! 😎

CAROL - Neil Sedaka 710085 NEW 85 1 NIGHTINGALE LANE - RAYE 3000Fantastic chart as always ❤️Hi AH! 🙂Hope the shift change revert back to Hearts Hits isnt too painful! I just switched briefly to Ken Bruce again after Popmaster when Jeremy Vine comes on, plus side they played the rarely heard Come Back (Wah!) downside I had to endure All Right Now for the millionth time. What we need is me to handle a playlist of oldies and newies, that would be very niche 😄I'd start with banning all overplayed and predictable records! The Bob Stanley book is huge, half-way through and we are just edging into the 40's. Today I played the first bonafide popular Girl Group, The Boswell Sisters started in the late 20's into the 30's and set the template for the much more famous Andrews Sisters, jazz-swing-pop, and they were quite impudent for the times, one was a wheel-chair user and they believed in having fun during hard times :)Oops the Ladies First version of I Can't Wait rings no bell, excuse me while I check my files...ah 2002, peaked at 53. That's as long ago as 1978 was at the time!! I'm impressed you heard Tell Me There's A Heaven on the radio, that would be normally be avoided like the plague as too depressing/too much risk of someone changing channels! It must have been outside daytime radio! J-Lo & Guetta, yes an obvious smash 15 years ago, one of the downsides of pop music fashions moving on, and teens not relating to people pushing 60 with older styles of music, oops! When I was a teen 50- or 60-something musicians having hits included, err Donald Peers, Perry Como, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra. Makes you think! 😄Makes me think Cher is an icon in her 70's! John Lee Hooker was in his 80's when he had 90's hits!!! Thanks for all the comments and picks!cheers 😎
