Posted May 9May 9 Given the race started yesterday, kicking off this thread for all things Giro-related!
May 9May 9 Author That was quite a crash yesterday - I guess it did result in an unexpected winner though, and the first French pink jersey in three years!
May 9May 9 I'm in Bulgaria currently so it's quite prominent on billboards etc around here! I'm not a fan of cycling but a few people I've spoken to are so were quite excited about these first few stages.
May 9May 9 Author Ah nice! Yeah can't imagine Bulgaria gets too much action from the big cycling races - this is certainly the first time I've seen racing there! The second crash in two days today though, this time with a few riders abandoning slightly evened out by our first ever Uruguayan winner of a Grand Tour stage in Guillermo Thomas Silva! Always good to see new countries making an appearance. This is also when I start clocking team name changes - Ineos are now 'Netcompany Ineos', the first time Ineos haven't been the lead sponsor since they took over which is interesting. Also curious as to whether the team with 'Visit Malta' in their name think that that makes me more likely to visit Malta?
May 14May 14 Author An interesting day yesterday with a hunch of breakaway riders gaining 5+ minutes on the main GC contenders! Interested to see how long they stay at the top.
May 15May 15 Author Vingegaard making himself known with a win on the queen stage - Felix Gall finishing impressively close though, he's certainly still in the running!
