You're releasing new single Passenger Princess just in time for Hoopla, but has your studio - the 'La La Room' - seen any action since the last album sessions?

It hasn’t yet, but I’m very close to being back in there. I’ve had meetings in there and played some stuff in there, so it’s been brought to life a bit. As soon as I’m settled with these upcoming festivals, I’m going to get back into the studio.

I feel like I know exactly the direction I want to go in now, which exciting. The first time around, I was experimenting a lot with what sound I wanted, what genre, I was overwhelmed with choice. It was quite overwhelming going into a solo career thinking ‘I can be anything, be anyone, have any sound or look.’ It overwhelmed me because I just love music so much. 

The Perrie era was very experimental and about figuring things out, and the album ended up feeling very 'me' in the end, but I think I know where I want to go with this.

Ooh 👀. Any teasers as to the direction for P2?

The music I’ve brought out, and then the next single Passenger Princess, is a very good bridge leading to the next campaign.

Now Pez, beyond these festivals, can we expect any Perrie headline shows?

I hope so! I’d really love to, but it’s trying to work it all out in the kind of climate. My dream is to go on tour, and I think it’d be good to tour with two albums worth of music, so that’s my plan.

Seen a suggestion about letting Jade write her a song that could be intriguing

I hope she's found her sound. So far Jade and Leigh-Anne have created their own identity's and lanes outside of Little Mix, while Perrie has not.

If the Perrie era was considered experimental, she needs to go fully unhinged.

I kind of think she did find her lane with the album, it’s just that it wasn’t as experimental or edgy as the other girls.

There’s a definite through line across the record and hopefully she continues to build on it.

It’s pretty clear she still needs to go through a big developmental stage with her music, whereas Jade and Leigh started to do it whilst they were in the group.

Hoping she chucks herself in with some new producers and songwriters too, she seems to limit herself quite a lot. I get new environments are scary to her but it’d the best way to push herself forward.

Secretly hoping Alex signs for an MLS team so she can camp out in LA for a bit haha.

I did enjoy the first album, I’m hoping for the second album we see a bit more progression.

I’d also like to see her work with someone like Max Martin, but that may be wishful thinking.

I mean she has enough songs, I think it’s worries about ticket sales based on the interview in the OP.

Exactly like Leigh did it with 1 album and an ep, Jade literally only had 1 cover (and wasabi which she could of easily used an encore track or 2)

I’m sure they are still friends but hopefully this means she’s finally getting new management and not modest. Perrie replied to a fan the other week she’s going through changes.

PERRIE Edwards has parted ways with Sony and Modest Management after 15 years, sources tell The Sun.

Insiders said the Little Mix singer was offered the chance to make her second record with Colombia, but has turned them down to start anew.

I’m told Perrie, 33, is now joining the same team behind stars including Tom Grennan, 31, Rose Gray, 29, and Melanie C, 52, Various Artists Management.

A source said: “This is a hugely exciting new chapter in Perrie’s solo career.

“She is assembling a new team around her as she begins work on her second album.”

An insider added: “Perrie has come away from her first solo campaign with an even clearer sense of the artist she wants to be and the creative direction she wants to explore next.

“She was offered the opportunity to make her second album with Columbia, but after more than a decade with Sony and Modest Management, she felt the time was right for a change across her career and a fresh start as she moves into this next era.

“Perrie is so grateful to everyone at Columbia, Sony and Modest for their support and hard work over the years and is proud of everything they have achieved together, both during her time with Little Mix and as she launched her solo career.

“After making that transition, Perrie now feels confident and excited about taking greater ownership of the team she builds around herself and the creative direction of her second album.”
