Nice that it was the Deeper performance ❤️

(And it deserved more chart succes if you ask me)

It truly did, I wonder how it would have fared had it been released earlier? Like imagine a Deeper shade of blue / Say you'll be mine first two singles run over Love got a hold of my heart / After the love has gone...

Then again the latter probably kept the album selling.

Oh Shurrup with your LGAHOMH hate, it’s tiring and frankly delusional x

I don't actually "hate" it, I just skip it every time. 😂

I think it also could’ve pushed the fans away. Step one was a big succes and the first 2 singles from Steptacular were very Steps. Deeper was a bit different and with this build with the singles up they could swap a bit sound-wise without the risk of losing fans.

(Still, Deeper as the first single would’ve been epic if you ask me)

Say You'll Be Mine and Deeper Shade are definitely the highlights of the singles there, though it must be remembered that After the Love... is very, very underrated.

I actually think that Loves Got a Hold and After The Love has gone are my favourite singles of the 4, so to me it was perfect.

I get that DSOB is a big fan favourite but not so much for me. Whilst I loved SYBM at the time, I definitely think it’s one of their limper efforts now!

I adore LGAHOMH and enjoy After. With some promo Deeper could’ve been an European hit. Would’ve been interesting if this was single #1.

Depper shade of blue would have made a killer lead single but i think if Loves got a hold on my heart and after the love has gone were pushed out further as singles they would have struggled a little more so than deeper shade of blue did when it was released.

This is true. Considering ATLHG scraped in at #5 as the second single, it could really have ruined their top 5 streak if released as single 3 or 4. So i guess it all kinda worked out in the end!

Yeah I suppose it could’ve done. I saw it did 67,000 sales, which for a 4th single off a presumably large selling album by that point isn't bad at all.

I did some digging as to the sales of LGAHOMH on its first week and it was as follows:

1- LIVIN LA VIDA LOCA- Ricky Martin (125,000)
2- LOVE’S GOT A HOLD ON MY HEART- Steps (101,500)

So it would've had to put up a strong fight against Ricky but i guess it wasn't miles off!

Loves got a hold on my heart did well on those sales, i didnt realise it was as high, its really such a shame that they only ended up ever having 2 number 1 singles as they deserved more, but then again 2 is better than none.

Great sales indeed!

Though they deserved more #1’s, I’m happy with how they did in the end.

Yeah the sales were much higher than I thought too! But I guess first week sales in that period were always quite high, compared to the “highs” we see these days!

As for their #1s, I too of course would’ve liked them to have had a few more (especially after the It’s The Way You Make Me Feel drama) but tbh, I’m just happy they got one at all!

They probably could've grabbed a couple more at least if their team did what Westlife's did and pick opportune weeks (kind of like they did with 'Stomp')

Don’t tell me you don’t know the DRAMA! Now who’s losing their modship!

Some shops started stocking the single a few days early, so it ended up charting at #72 (I believe) the week before it was actually released 🤦🏼‍♂️

OK now that does sound vaguely familiar! Oops, cost them the #1 perhaps!?

I think Steps lost approx. 1500 sales that week. I’m not sure whether it was that close between them and Rui Da Silva though. But steps fans seem to just blame the retail error regardless 😂
