Posted Saturday at 16:035 days Surprised there's not a topic for this already This is the follow up to "Practical Magic" released in 1998, almost 30 years later. Both films star Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as the Owens sisters, two witches battling a family curse where any man they love dies. They also have Stockard Channing and Diane Wiest as their aunts, all of which are fantastic in their roles. Sequels are notoriously hit or miss but I genuinely enjoyed this even more than the original. I don't wanna spoil too much but anything you could hope for in a sequel this has, it has the right balance of nostalgia and new plot points. It has Maisie Williams and Joey King playing Sandra's characters daughters. I was sceptical about casting Joey in that role, especially when Evan Rachel Woods was the original but she actually did fairly well. My only criticism is I'd like to have seen more development or even romantic interests for Nicole and Maisie's characters but maybe there's plans for a third film which could cover that. This is probably my second favourite film this year, after Obsession.
Saturday at 23:224 days AMAZING!!! This should be no.1 for as long ss Spiderman if therd's any justice!! Not much competition anyway, so hopefully 5 weeks no.1!! Deserved!
Monday at 10:083 days I really enjoyed both movies! I hadn't seen the first one but the cinema I mostly go to had a showing of that too a month ago.
2 hours ago2 hr I really enjoyed this too! The original is one of my favourite movies ever, so I obviously can't say it matched that, and it did have a different vibe but that's to be expected after three decades (!). I feel like Nicole and Sandra really slipped back into their roles as if they'd never left though. I can't wait to watch this again already, I might have to see it again before it leaves. My only complaint really is the soundtrack could've been a bit more carefully curated, the original absolutely nailed that
