Posted March 7, 200719 yr Arcade Fire head busy week for new albums 06 March 2007 - 10:59:18 Source: Music Week Arcade Fire are challenging Kaiser Chiefs’ number one status on the UK albums chart as they lead the busiest week for new album releases so far this year. The band’s Universal debut Neon Bible is one of what is forecast by retail to be five brand new entries to the Top 10 this coming Sunday, with other new arrivals expected to come courtesy of Bryan Ferry, Russell Watson, Cascada and Donny Osmond. While Arcade Fire are looking to end Kaiser Chiefs’ run at number one with the B Unique/Polydor-issued Yours Truly Angry Mob after just a week, Ferry’s Virgin-released Bob Dylan covers album Dylanesque is expected to end up in or around the top five. Two Decca releases by Russell Watson (That’s Life) and Donny Osmond (Love Songs Of The 70s) plus All Around The World act Cascada’s Every Time We Touch will complete the Top 10 entries. Another three newly-issued albums are seeking Top 20 places courtesy of Mute’s Grinderman, Sequel/Sanctuary’s Idlewild and Virgin’s Air, while an extremely busy week for new entries is further boosted by expected Top 40 entries from Loog/Polydor’s The Horrors, Radiate/Virgin’s Willy Mason, a Sony BMG Dolly Parton best of, Nonesuch/Warner’s Ry Cooder and UCJ signing Andrea Ross. The high number of entries on the albums chart is contrasted by a stable singles market with little or no movement expected in the top five, which on Sunday was led by Polydor’s Take That with Shine. Two tracks, however, appear on course to move into the Top 10 with Data/Ministry of Sound’s The Creeps by Camille Jones and Fedde Le Grande progressing from its current position of 16 and 14th Floor/Warner act Biffy Clyro debuting in the 10 with Saturday Superhouse. Both tracks are benefiting from newly-issued physical formats, as is the case with EMI’s Robbie Williams and Pet Shop Boys’ collaboration She’s Madonna, although the pairing are likely to end up only in the lower reaches of the Top 20. Atlantic’s Get Cape Wear Cape Fly are eyeing a Top 20 debut with I Spy, while veteran acts Simply Red and Madness will make Top 40 returns this weekend. Simply Red will debut with So Not Over You, the latest on their Simplyred.com label, while Madness’s new hit Sorry is released on Lucky Seven Records. ===================================================== Singles 01 Take That - Shine 02 Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby 03 Gwen Stefani feat. March 8, 200719 yr Well due to the appaling incident of Say It Right being pulled. All will be forgiven if Gwen Makes it to the Top Spot
March 8, 200719 yr Sadly I no longer understand the singles chart due to the new rules etc. I'm often confused as to whether stuff is out physically or just on downloads. Also, how come Lily Allen is top 40 with 'Alfie' yet top 75 with 'Alfie'/'Shame On You'?
