1. Some mothers do ave em (73 - 78) - I'm not a fan of cringeworthy slapstick comedy - so I never liked this programme.

2. the rag trade (61 - 78) - never watched

3. Men behaving badly (92 - 98) - A bit harsh to be on this list. However, it was of it's time (like Ab Fab) & has not aged well unlike Father Ted or I'm Alan Partridge.

4. the glums (78) - never watched

5. desmond's (89-94) - this is a bit harsh - I thought it was quite funny.

6. just good friends (83 - 86) - this definitely should NOT be on the list, this was a great will they, wont they comedy.

7. babes in the wood (98-99) - awful rubbish

8. metal mickey (80-83) - it's a kid's comedy produced by Micky Dolenz (of the Monkees)

9. oh doctor beeching (95-97) - agreed it was no Hi-Di-Hi.

10. bottom (91 - 95) - Well I liked Bottom, it's only on the list because it's not the Young Ones.

11. Different Strokes (78-86) - an awful, awful TV programme - I hate how 1970s/80s US sitcoms had to crowbar a moral into every episode.

12. allo allo (82 - 92) - went on twice as long as WW2 and was half as funny. Went downhill fast when the original Herr Flick left IMHO.

13. my hero (from 2000) - Very Harsh. It's only on the list because it's no Father Ted (Ardal O'Hanlon - Father Dougal). FACT about Ardal O'Hanlon - he was the first comedian to rename Westlife as Feck$hite!

14. shelley (79 - 83) - never liked it.

15. terry and june (1978 - 1987) - it was not that bad, just because it was not cutting edge = makes it an easy target for lists like this.

16 mind your language (1977 - 1986) - the 2nd most PC incorrect comedy of all-time.

17. love thy neighbour (1972 - 1976) - the most PC incorrect comedy of all-time, although people do seem to forget that the (PC correct language alert:) Afro-Caribbean always out did the European Caucasian.

18 in loving memory (1979 - 1986) - Can't remember it.

19. agony (79 - 81) - Can't remember it

20 bread (1986 - 91) - worst ever sitcom ever! The very worst episode was the one where the late Linda McCartney had a cameo in it.

Sitcoms that should be on the list IMHO are:

Sorry; The Thin Blue Line; Going Straight;Bless This House; Butterflies; Mr Bean; Robin's Nest & Fresh (French) Fields.

The most toe-curling, humdrum, laugh-free sitcom ever is a recent one - My Family. What on earth was the usually great Robert Lindsay thinking? And HOW did it get such huge viewing figures??? :o

And the Rag Trade, Some Mothers Do Ave 'em and Love Thy Neighbour were all superb.... I'd like to know who 'voted' for these, especially Some Mothers, because I don't believe this list at all.

Love Thy Neighbour, as thisispop says, was spot on - the black guy always outdid the white.

it was The Word magazine. if you want to see which were voted the best its on page 30

1. Some mothers do ave em (73 - 78) Some of Michael Crawford's stunts were quite good, but apart from that,???????

2. the rag trade (61 - 78) -never watched it

3. Men behaving badly (92 - 98) - I loved the crude humour of this, well apart from the 1st series which was awful

4. the glums (78) - c**p

5. desmond's (89-94) - never watched it

6. just good friends (83 - 86) - liked it but a bit slow at times

7. babes in the wood (98-99) - never saw it

8. metal mickey (80-83) - never watched it

9. oh doctor beeching (95-97) - nope

10. bottom (91 - 95) - Loved it

11. Different Strokes (78-86) - absolutely c**p

12. allo allo (82 - 92) - slightly humorous, but run out of ideas

13. my hero (from 2000) - ok

14. shelley (79 - 83) - a bit dull, but quite funny

15. terry and june (1978 - 1987) - ran for 11 years so can't have been that awful

16 mind your language (1977 - 1986) - I thought this was absolutely hilarious in an anti PC way

17. love thy neighbour (1972 - 1976) - In its day very funny, ;) ,however you would not get away with it today

18 in loving memory (1979 - 1986) - funeral directors, not very funnt,imo

19. agony (79 - 81) - ok , but not brilliant

20 bread (1986 - 91) - used to like ,but in the end hated it

Can't think of any ones I specifically hated

Some good ones in that list. The No.1 is an all-time classic, so no way could that be considered the worst sitcom of all time.

I don't think i could pick a worst sitcom to be honest, i was never a fan of Allo! Allo! couldn't stand it, but a lot of people liked it and it brought pleasure to people so fair enough.

As for Bread, some people loved it, some people hated it, and it got pretty good ratings in its day. It even topped the charts one christmas.

I was one of those who liked it.

Bottom is hilarious.

Yeh, its one of my fav sitcoms actually :D

My fav episode is Smells, where they get sex spray to pull bird, sooooooooooo funny

but as for the list, i like Some Mothers Do Ave em, not a huge fan of men behaveing badly, but no way 3rd worst, others i cant comment as ive never seen them, or cant remember them.

For me the worst sitcom is Dinnerladies, total rubbish :puke2:

1. Some mothers do ave em (73 - 78) - Enjoyed it when I was a kid, but looking back on it now, it is completely annoying

2. the rag trade (61 - 78) - Never watched it

3. Men behaving badly (92 - 98) - A bit unfair, the first few series are pretty damn good

4. the glums (78) - Never heard of it

5. desmond's (89-94) - This isnt so bad, I found it quite amusing

6. just good friends (83 - 86) - Tedious, annoying, smug Yuppie pish. Fukkin' HATED it... <_<

7. babes in the wood (98-99) - Never heard of it

8. metal mickey (80-83) - Again, enjoyed it when I was a kid, but I'd NEVER wanna watch it now...

9. oh doctor beeching (95-97) - Complete c**p

10. bottom (91 - 95) - Got a bit boring after the first couple of series

11. Different Strokes (78-86) - c**p, really patronising c**p. "oooh, let's adopt a couple of black kids from 'da ghetto' to show what a nice bunch of WASPs we are. Oh, and one's a midget too....". Despicable rubbish.... <_<

12. allo allo (82 - 92) - Went on longer than the bloody war.....

13. my hero (from 2000) - Hated this

14. shelley (79 - 83) - From what I remember, this wasnt so bad

15. terry and june (1978 - 1987) - :puke2: :puke2:

16 mind your language (1977 - 1986) - Fukkin' racist garbage....

17. love thy neighbour (1972 - 1976) - Ditto <_< <_<

18 in loving memory (1979 - 1986) - Don't remember this

19. agony (79 - 81) - Rubbish

20 bread (1986 - 91) worst ever sitcom ever! - Annoying Scouse rubbish..... <_<

As much as I dislike it though, "Bread" aint the worst, surely garbage like "Grace and Favour", "Fresh/French Fields" and the mind-numbingly unfunny "Last of the Summer Wine" should be considered before "Bread".....

I've only heard of a few of them!

could always watch itv 3 in the hope they will turn up. they've got the two ronies now!

I thought Bottom was very funny, although I was in high school when that was on so maybe that's why I liked it. I quite like 'Allo 'Allo from what I've seen of it, but to be honest I haven't seen much of it at all.

I agree with thisispop about Men Behaving Badly and Absoulutely Fabulous- they have both dated REALLY badly compared to the likes of Father Ted.

Just Good Friends was OK-ish I suppose. It's certainly no classic. I didn't mind Oh Doctor Beeching, but yeah it was just a poor imitation of Hi-Di-Hi.

Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em was rubbish. Babes In The Wood was dire, and so is My Hero. Terry And June wasn't funny at all.

I haven't seen any of the rest. I have heard of Diff'rent Strokes though. Gary Coleman pops up on TV now and again talking about it. The actress who played the teenage girl in that program became a porn star and commited suicide apparently.

at the chance of sounding very psychophantic, scotty just about sums it up for me...

though 'the rag trade' was pretty much ok from what i remember,

'allo 'allo, i thought this was extremely funny.. especially if you had been a 'fan' of 'secret army', the bbc seriese about the french resistance... against that background 'allo 'allo becomes much funnier!

so a spoof years before date movie and scary movie. wow maybe they should have done a movie at the time!

then again arent all the films of these 70s sitcoms supposed to be set on holiday in Spain? Second War War probably put a stop to that

I haven't seen any of the rest. I have heard of Diff'rent Strokes though. Gary Coleman pops up on TV now and again talking about it. The actress who played the teenage girl in that program became a porn star and commited suicide apparently.

..And I seem to recall the actor who played Gary Coleman's brother (Todd Bridges) got sent down on a manslaughter charge and got a life sentence.... :o

Man behaving badly shouldn't be on the list, I like it and I can still watch it....it's a typical lads programme, sex, lager, cigs and wise cracks.

Ahh 'Allo allo' was good, the policeman mad it fecking brill...'Good moaning', 'artical farty', 'I've got a cack in my bog' pmsl, 'down the back pissage'...oh I could go on all day.

You have to save Terry and June. If it goes then we lose the theme tune and that brilliant deckchair sequence over the opening titles. Of course, the rest of the show was never as good.

1. Some mothers do ave em (73 - 78)

I liked this as a kid, but it's really a bit rubbish.

2. the rag trade (61 - 78)

The fact this is NEVER repeated suggests its bad, yeah. Never seen it.

3. Men behaving badly (92 - 98)

It hit a high for about three episodes in 1995. By the end it was absolutely abysmal. Not knocking the actresses but the bigger the roles given to Dorothy and Deborah the worse it got.

4. the glums (78)

Never ever heard of it.

5. desmond's (89-94)

c**p. Not sure why everyone used to like it.

6. just good friends (83 - 86)

Much as I like the cast, very much of it's time.

7. babes in the wood (98-99)

Refused to watch this.

8. metal mickey (80-83)

I was too busy watching Rentaghost.

9. oh doctor beeching (95-97)

Oh dear...the missing link between You Rang M'Lord and Last of the Summer Wine...and amazingly worse than both of them.

10. bottom (91 - 95)

Some great moments in the first series, second was decent and the third was utter rubbish. The less said about the live shows the better.

11. Different Strokes (78-86)

Hmm...I know I used to like this, but I can't think why. I liked Willis best.

12. allo allo (82 - 92)

I loved this, and I can still watch it. A guilty pleasure I suppose, or is it just cos Arthur Bostrom is the most underrated comedy performer the UK has ever produced?

13. my hero (from 2000)

Complete rubbish, how can you go from Father Ted to that Ardal?

14. shelley (79 - 83)

So that's what Pete Shelley did when he left the Buzzcocks? Heh - nope, never saw it.

15. terry and june (1978 - 1987)

See above

16 mind your language (1977 - 1986)

Very much of its time...which is the nicest way I can possibly describe it. Unfortunately another guilty pleasure of mine.

17. love thy neighbour (1972 - 1976)

Only ever saw one episode of it on BBC4. Not good.

18 in loving memory (1979 - 1986)

Never heard of.

19. agony (79 - 81)

Never heard of.

20 bread (1986 - 91) worst ever sitcom ever!

Used to be a staple of my sunday night. I tried watching it a few months ago and just had to switch it off.

I'm glad Man About the House was not in there as it's a big favourite of mine.

I'd like to nominate anything Caroline Aherne and / or Craig Cash have ever done. They're two sacred cows that need to go to the slaughter and quick. Moo.

After about the umpteenth time of hearing the same jokes though, it got incredibly irritating and I got an uncontrollable urge to chuck my TV out the window.... I feel the same way about "Little Britain" now....

i liked the way 'allo 'allo developed though... the way new characters came in, the way different resistant groups were portrayed, the way the germans got more and more ridiculous!.... excellant!
