Posted April 18, 200718 yr The Enemy. Are they better than The Jam??? and is The Enemy's chart entry gona be creditied to two different record labels or just Warner Brothers???
April 30, 200718 yr You have got to be kidding me. The Enemy aren't good enough to be the Jam's roadies, let alone the band themselves.
August 19, 200717 yr LMAO! They're one of the most pretentious (sp?) bands out there right now and are basically trying to sustain a career by having their cocks in Kasabian and Oasis' arses  In their dreams they're better than the Jam. Saying that Had Enough was alright but that's about it from them.
August 19, 200717 yr WHAT!!!!???? Now im really annoyed, not only is Robyn being labelled as 'euro-cheese', but now my favourite new band of 2007 are being 'attacked'!!!! They're not pretentious, ive seen the C4 documentary, read articles, they're not claiming to be the 'next big thing', the record itself is better than anything ive heard from Kasabian or Oasis, this band cannot be compared to the Jam so soon after breaking into the charts, but they have had a massive impact on the band's sound....they are making a career for themselves as artists who make great tracks that stick in the mind unlike the boring tripe from oasis that lingers for all of 30 seconds. The Jam were an awesome band, but The Enemy are one of the freshest bands to come out of the UK in long time, imo. Yes they write about what bothers them and making statements but if the Arctic's or Oasis do that then they're wonderful and adored, this lot do it and people dislike it...you cant win....RANT OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 19, 200717 yr Personally, they remind me more of the Specials (minus the Ska influence) with their attitude. Probably as I found out they both came from Coventry! Their album is very good (8/10) IMHO.

The problem I have with them is that they go on about 'oh we've had enough of working all the time' etc. when how they hell do they know when they're all about 18?
August 19, 200717 yr Enemy are a good band, with a great album but they'll never be as good as the Jam obviously
August 19, 200717 yr Author WHAT!!!!???? Now im really annoyed, not only is Robyn being labelled as 'euro-cheese', but now my favourite new band of 2007 are being 'attacked'!!!! well i suppose on Robyn it might depend on whether Cherion is involved. currently they are trying to make emotronica stick
August 19, 200717 yr Author Personally, they remind me more of the Specials (minus the Ska influence) with their attitude. i think Ian Brodie and Terry Hall should do a cover of S Club's Automatic High. i would make a good record (but with squeeky vocals) even better
August 21, 200717 yr The problem I have with them is that they go on about 'oh we've had enough of working all the time' etc. when how they hell do they know when they're all about 18? Hey, hasn't everyone had enough of working. They've got old heads on young shoulders, They're next song you're not alone is actually about Peugeot shutting down the Peugeot factory in Coventry. They write songs about everyday life and how they don't want to grow up and have dead end jobs like their friends and families i'm sure most working class people would agree with them, and when they got their record deal they were selling TV's and temping so they've done brilliantly and will be an inspiration to lots of young bands i'm sure. One year they're selling TV's, next year they have a number one album and are picked to support The Rolling Stones at the 02 arena, not bad really. Edited August 21, 200717 yr by the enemy
August 21, 200717 yr I really like their album, one of the better ones of the year so far. They have a good bit of attitude ^_^

They could be from Linwood   http://www.philseed.com/images/hillmanimp-jr.jpg http://www.linwoodsucks.com/
August 22, 200717 yr i dont think they can be compared to The Jam so early in their careers, i think they have a similar sound, but so what if they write about how life can be and the hard stuff that happens, as far as im concerned they're album is one the best debuts ive heard for a long time, yet its ok for oasis to have attitude yet this band are called arrogant, so what if they're only about my age and most people on this board, some of the lyrics on the album are amazing and dont scream 'we've got issues, deal with it or get lost', i love this band and cannot wait to see them live later this year, however, people are entitled to their own opinions....

Hey, great post. Why are people asking if they're better than The Jam? Of course they're not better than The Jam, they're only just starting out, pretty good start though. Have you seen them live before? They are pretty fantastic
August 24, 200717 yr That question is sooo premature. The jam didn't really get going until their third album so let's wait until The Enemy have released album number 5 and then ask the question again.
