May 1, 200719 yr LOL you predicted it yesterday, that's not like if you said it months ago lol Everyone knew that this album wouldn't get as much hype as 'Unwritten'. 'Babies' missed top5, and the album didn't do good on pre-order charts... Seems like British people get jealous when their native artists get successful in the US  Not 'jealous' as such, we just don't like sell-outs who pretend to be something they're not... check out the downfall of Joss Stone in the UK, for instance. NB isn't quite as bad as all that, but and all the time she spent on the other side of the Atlantic have led people to forget about her over in Blighty. She should have put down more of a presence over on these shores first, rather than performing 'Unwritten' for the umpteeth occasion on one of those crappy daytime TV talk-shows. Yes, we KNOW it was a hit over there, but talk about milking your success based on one song! Lesson No.1:just because you had a No 1 album a couple of years ago, doesn't mean you can just swan in and maintain the same level of success later on. NEVER alienate your core audience in your home country by going overseas for an extended period, and then certainly don't give a load of press interviews about how great the LA lifestyle is and how successful you are over there! What did her debut album reach in the USA? 26? Hardly Mariah Carey, is it? Anyway, I think she deserves what she's getting with her early position, and I hope she picks a better second single than that 'Babies' nonsense...
May 1, 200719 yr Author Btw its only a top 20 update, the other info was picked from the Music Week report.
May 1, 200719 yr Her collaboration with Timbaland is top 5, her solo single is not top 20 Album wise Top 15, in the year to date album chart, she has hit a new peak at No.6. Cool- That's amazing for Nelly! Is there an up to date list of the top sellers? Cheers Mikey!
May 1, 200719 yr Well he'll certainly get to No.1 as almost 3 million people have bought Back to Bedlam...he has got a lot of stick in the media though in recent times and some people may be embrassed to buy his records now...I would have thought his next album will sell around a million but will be far smaller than Back to Bedlam What a sad state the music buying public are in these days, that they can feel `embarrassed' to buy something they like just because a few people in the media tell them its not `cool'. Why don't people just have a mind of their own, instead of following what the DJ's and the media tell them its `OK' to buy  I'm looking forward to James's next album. Really loved the first one.

May 1, 200719 yr Another fanbase #1 then. Watch it plummet next week. No one will remember the song in one month time...
May 1, 200719 yr Another fanbase #1 then. Watch it plummet next week. No one will remember the song in one month time... In all fairness, it is the Manics strongest song in years Hopefully it won't follow their previous 2 singles by instantly leaving the top 10 the following week
May 1, 200719 yr Me too, I loved it too but it is the truth...a lot of people follow the views of the media -_- Yeah but don't forget that also a lot of people bought Blunt's album because he was everywhere in the media and everyone on TV&radio was like "he's fantastic blablabla". All of his singles were overplayed and got big media attention, so he can complain now if things are a little different...
May 1, 200719 yr Some people are media lead..some peope buy what they want and sod the media. James blunt for example..i liked your beautiful very much..but felt his other songs were too samey for me so didn't get his first album my own opinion. I agree About Nat B though..she had only one album and she went to America with it and did nothing for her fanbase here. her Brother did the same thing. Edited May 1, 200719 yr by Sweetwilliamfan
May 1, 200719 yr They do it all the time, hype them up to the max and throw awards and Brits at them when they've only got one single or album out, Sandi Thom, The Darkness, The Streets, Franz Ferdinand, Daniel Bedingfield, James Morrison, James Blunt. None of these have proved themselves yet, 1 album doesn't make a career and the follow-ups usually flop.
May 1, 200719 yr The duet with former Cardigans singer Nina Persson will provide stiff competition to Beyonce and Shakira’s two-week reign with Beautiful Liar (Columbia), having sold 3,000 more copies already, after entering the chart at 26 last week. What does it mean former singer?! Nina deserves a number 1, hell she's deserved about 10 with the singles the cardigans have released!

Nah, you're wrong there... his second album struggled simply because it wasn't very good, a lot of the tracks weren't exactly mainstream... plus it had a very poor choice of singles. Remember 'Nothing Hurts Like Love'? No, neither do I... I got the LP from a relative for Christmas 2004, and I was shocked at how crappy it was compared to his debut. It seems a lot of people agreed with me, because I saw a few copies in charity shops a couple of months later going for £1 each. Plus, I'm not saying this was his fault, but at the time he was promoting it he was still recovered from his almost fatal accident in New Zealand, and he didn't exactly look in the best shape. The less said about his dyed hair too, the better. I'm not saying Natasha's latest is any better or worst than Daniel's last release but the initial comments and reviews I've heard haven't exactly encouraged me to rush out and buy it. Never mind, I'm sure her new Americanized sound will go down a storm in the States, and she won't give two hoots about the poor reception she gets back home. Just like Joss Stone. Sigh..

I agree 100%...one successful album doesn't mean a successful aritst..getting the album over is a lot easier than getting the artist over.

People got his first album because one song ignited it..lite the flame under it and it sold by the shed load..but once you had that album you found out that alot of it was poor to begin with so you didn't want his second and it didn't help that his lead single and video off that new album was complete cack. and that did it for him. IMO of course. Nat B's first single is cack and the video had her throwing herself at different blokes she wanted to use and sperm donors. lovely <_<
May 1, 200719 yr Daniel's 2nd album was great IMO. He just did the wrong choice releasing 'Nothing hurts like love', too ballad-ish for a first single... Natasha may have made the same mistake, wrong first choice. And I fear she makes a 2nd mistake with 'Soulmate'! 'How do you do' or above all 'Say it again' would make it to the top!
May 1, 200719 yr DB's first album sold on his ballads..so his second should not of been a problem.. DB doesn't seem to have a fan base, but his single IYNTO does. in other words, his single which sold the album, was a hit, but him as an artist wasn't. Edited May 1, 200719 yr by Sweetwilliamfan
