Posted May 23, 200718 yr Anyone knows if there is a 2007 edition this year, its usually out at this time of the year.
May 23, 200718 yr I've heard nothing about the 20th edition so far. The last one was published early June 06. They're maybe going back to an edition every 2 years. :(
May 23, 200718 yr According to someone at UKMix they are releasing one this year, but it will include a few months of 2007 too as to include the start of the new download rules. So it will be a bit later due to this Perhaps they'll go up to June in the book?

Probably change the time period for example June to May instead of the usual December
May 23, 200718 yr I bet they'll go up to the end of 2006 to keep things consistent with previous editions :).
May 23, 200718 yr Author Just e-mailed the editor to clear this up :). Ta, I wish I thought of that
May 23, 200718 yr :D, I bet it's just soemthing they were thinking of doing but changed their minds!. After all it wouldn't be fair on those acts missing out on a top 500 place just because the cut-off changed. If they do however, it would be good to get someone to compile a list up to the last chart of December so we can see what it would have been.
May 23, 200718 yr I think they may have to rethink the top 500 though. It goes on weeks on the chart, and since downloads were included you do get quite a few songs that spend 20+ weeks on the chart when before it was quite rare.

It goes on weeks on the chart, and since downloads were included you do get quite a few songs that spend 20+ weeks on the chart when before it was quite rare. A lot of the bands near the top of the chart (Pink Floyd, Led Zep etc.) are there largely because of the time spent in the albums chart. For the most part, it's the last ten years or so which have been the exception with a lot of top ten singles only spending eight weeks or so in the top 75 (if that - and I'm not only referring to McFly  ). You could argue that normality has now been restored.
May 23, 200718 yr I went to look for this the other day, I didn't expect to find it though as there was no thread on here yet. Now there is, I'll keep an eye out for it ^_^
May 23, 200718 yr They used to publish seperate books for Singles & Albums Also they were published only every 2 years alternately
May 29, 200718 yr It looks like it is not coming out this year, not least because the sponsorship deal has ended between Guinness & the OCC.
May 30, 200718 yr I don't understand this book?? why buy one in 2006/2005/2004 and so on, when it's updated every year?? I'm totally ignorant to it's concept so can someone please shine some light on it please! ^_^
May 30, 200718 yr Hello, Earlier in 2007, Guinness told me that the 2007 Edition, (the 20th Edition), was coming out. That it would be coming out later than the usual May or June, as they wanted to add some Months of 2007 in it too - to show numerous Down Load Hits, & to reflect the new 2007 Chart Rules. However, 2 UK Music Industry sources have recently told me that the Contract between Guinness, & the OCC, has now ended. That it will not be renewed, as Guinness Publishing have decided that they no longer want to Publish any Music Books - or Chart Books - at all. I contacted The OCC - yesterday - and they have confimed that Guinness will no longer be doing the 'British Hit Singles & Albums' Book. Also, that the Book will not be brought out, by any other Publishing Company, this Year, either. The Book may return in 2008. If it does so, it will no longer carry the Guinness name or Logo. It MAY also only come out every 2 Years, when it returns - as when it is Published Yearly, it means that it does not really have enough fresh Data in it, to make it worthwhile to buy every Edition. Every 2 Years, means you get twice as much fresh Data for your money. It used to come out every 2 Years, anyhow. No UK Chart Books - at all - will come out this Year. With no Guinness Book, there is also to be no, 'Complete UK Hit Singles' Book, (or 'Albums'), by Graham Betts, & after the 2003 Editiion did not sell too well, there will never again be a, 'Complete Book Of The British Charts', either.
May 30, 200718 yr Author Typical really it would have been the 20th Edition, and it looks like it will be published every 2 years, which in a way is better.
