Posted May 28, 200718 yr In spring 2001, pink got together with christina aguilera, lil’ kim and mya to record a cover version of lady marmalade fro the soundtrack to the film moulin rouge. Lady marmalade was pink’s first number one, it peaked at number one on the US billboard hot 100 for five weeks and remained in the US top 40 for 17 weeks. It also got to number one in UK singles chart and Australia. The music video features the four artists in lingerie and pink wasn’t too keen on this idea, but after she got on the set and tried on her outfit, she began to feel a lot more comfortable about the idea. The song also achieved several awards, including the MTV video music award for “best video of the year” and “best video from a film”. It also won a 2002 grammy award for “best pop collaboration with vocals”.
