May 30, 200718 yr I'm preparing for #1 fight between Rihana and Mutya. Should be fun! There will be *no* fight - if Mutya couldn't beat Rihanna on downloads (and she was a million miles off), she's hardly likely to win on CD sales!
May 30, 200718 yr There will be *no* fight - if Mutya couldn't beat Rihanna on downloads (and she was a million miles off), she's hardly likely to win on CD sales! I wouldn't be too sure of that.. all Mutya has to do is get some of her people together, hand over a wad of cash and then spread them over the UK, telling the peeps to buy as many copies of the single as possible in HMV and Woolworths, go into cyber cafes and download a thousand copies seperately etc. I think she got a healthy enough settlement from the Sugababes when they split up, being one of the primary songwriters, to be able to rig the charts to at least be in with a shout. After all, Louis Walsh did it with Westlife in their early years, and noone has begrudged them their 14 no 1's. Doesn't look like she's corrupt though, going by how much of a deficit she trails by in the midweeks. Some people are just too honest to a fault, even if it does impact their solo career fatally. Sigh..
May 30, 200718 yr Teletext say that Mims, Armand Van Helden, Marilyn Manson, Tiny Dancers and Calvin Harris are in the top 40

Sigh.. Oh, you don't think that's already happened? It's a weak song with the only redeeming feature being the backing which, as luck would have it, is old enough for most kids to have never heard of it thus giving the impression of it being original. Her next single will be a barrel-scraped tune originally written for and rejected by one of the last wave of soloists. Something tawdry that her label have had lying around for years. ...and another thing, I've always had a problem with stars given the tag 'primary songwriter' when in reality they probably hummed a basic melody out of tune and contributed some of those awful, awful lyrics that the Sugababes (and All Saints and Spice Girls before them) are famous for. Their 'co-writers' generally receive a raw deal I feel.

Mutya's next single is the Groove Armada collaberation masterpiece that is Out Of Control; it has had a stunning reaction from most people who have heard it and is possibly a future number 1. After that we're getting the Mutya-written Strung Out. Youre not one for stereotypes at all, are you -_-
May 30, 200718 yr Author No other chart info as of yet, we only have the Music Week report to go by this week. Anyone wants to phone a friend
May 30, 200718 yr interesting about shakira and beyonce climbing in their 9th week but i don't think they can hold on to #2 cause Mutya is doing alot of promo this week to generate sales so she may catch them by the end of the week, but beykira are proving to be strong they are still shifting healthy sales they caught up on snow patrol and hellogoodbye when they were both ahead of BL in the midweeks whats strange is last week both versions of Beautiful liar suddenly starting to climb on itunes but why? i don't why  it hasn't had any promo exposure so its hard to explain it but we've seen yoyo action from shakira with hips don't lie before so anything is possible with her. it had minimal drop in sales but its sales are falling so mutya should be able to shift 20k with physical and downloads, but mutya has no chance against rihanna for #1 that spot is secure for her
May 30, 200718 yr Mutya is already number 2. But a long, long way off of number one. Twang @ number 7. Reverend and the Makers @ 11, Mims @ 17 and Simply Red @ 18 Thanks to Airboy at CR.

Sigh.. Sadly I can imagine that actually happening tbh. :( I remember reading AGESSS ago back in the late 80s how some guy went around the country buying about 4 copies of the same cd by some flop girlband until he got caught out and they had their single disqualified from the chart. Was so long ago that I forget what song it was... But I suspect this sort of thing does really go on - people are just more craftier about it these days. -_-
