Posted June 11, 200718 yr Just been into my local HMV and Virgin Megastore, only to be told they no longer sell 7" singles - has this happened to anyone else? (So I ordered them online) Maybe it's just my area, but I find it surprising that the two big singles retailers are no longer stocking the 7" - is this another nail in the coffin for physicals? :unsure:
June 11, 200718 yr Same here actually, I was meant to post a topic about it earlier, I had to order some limited editions 7 inch online, as I collect rare coloured and picture vinyls
June 11, 200718 yr Last time i ventured into my local stores, they had a big supply of vinyl and were well-stocked. If they are stopping them, it's quite surprising as vinyl is supposed to be getting more popular according to news stories i've read in the past.

June 12, 200718 yr Less vinyl than there used to be up in Aberdeen but more than in recent years. If anything, vinyl is on the up and CD singles are being phased out.
June 12, 200718 yr Might just be your store? Theyre selling really well atm... in my recent one the vinyls space in increasing its the cd singles that are being overtaken by headphones. everyone loves 7"s
June 12, 200718 yr Ironic really, considering the 7'' section is nearly as big as the CD section in HMV Manchester! The 12'' section doesn't seem to have shrunk either! Maybe it's a lot to do with demographics. Manchester has the biggest student population in the UK for kick off!
June 12, 200718 yr There's a plentiful supply in most of the stores I've been in over the last 12 months - including Manchester, Belfast and Edinburgh! Virgin in Chester had none when I was there yesterday but then again their "singles" section seems to consist of about 20 titles and is hidden away on the 1st floor.
June 12, 200718 yr Author Vinyl is awesome. I have to buy mine online when I want it. Must be a regional thing then... was a bit frustrated I had to buy two vinyls at £2.99 each online when they'd be 99p each in-store in HMV.
